This is a totally new roommate story for Columbia. Barry had previously been said to have a Pakistani roomate at Columbia. "Boerner" does not sound like a Pakistani name...

Convenient pretext for the lack of fellow Columbia students' memories of Barack Obama there ata the time: have Obama not live in a dorm like nearly all the other undergrduates, but inexplicably in a bad apartment on West 109th street off-campus. Fishier and fishier. And J Gimmy, what's with the different roommates anomaly?

List of alleged Occidental and a couple Harvard Law people who remember seeing Obama then and there; no Columbia people! www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2081836/postsObama's Years at Columbia Are a Mystery He Graduated Without Honors {Then how did he manage to get into Harvard Law School??!!] By ROSS GOLDBERG, Special to the Sun | September 2, 2008 SHARE | PRINT | EMAIL Add to del.icio.us Add to Digg Add to Facebook Add to Newsvine Senator Obama's life story, from his humble roots, to his rise to Harvard Law School, to his passion as a community organizer in Chicago, has been at the center of his presidential campaign. But one chapter of the tale remains a blank — his education at Columbia College, a place he rarely speaks about and where few people seem to remember him.Contributing to the mystery is the fact that nobody knows just how well Mr. Obama, unlike Senator McCain and most other major candidates for the past two elections, performed as a student. The Obama campaign has refused to release his college transcript, despite an academic career that led him to Harvard Law School and, later, to a lecturing position at the University of Chicago. The shroud surrounding his experience at Columbia contrasts with that of other major party nominees since 2000, all whom have eventually released information about their college performance or seen it leaked to the public. For better or worse, voters have taken an interest in candidates' grades since 1999, when the New Yorker published President Bush's transcript at Yale and disclosed that he was a C student. Mr. Bush had never portrayed himself as a brain, but many were surprised to learn the next year that his opponent, Vice President Gore, did not do much better at Harvard despite his intellectual image. When Senator Kerry's transcript surfaced, reporters found that he actually had a slightly lower average at Yale than Mr. Bush did. Some political observers cite such disclosures as proof that candidates' intelligence cannot be judged solely by their political careers or the schools they attended. Grades provide a rare measure of intellect that is immune to political spin, proponents say. "We like to pretend IQ doesn't matter, but it really does with a lot of jobs, including the presidency," a professor at Smith College who studies the effects of human intelligence on the economy, James Miller, said. "We can't trust the information that candidates give us, so it's important to look for objective data that they can't falsify or distort." Mr. Miller acknowledged that Mr. Obama displayed academic achievement at Harvard, where he graduated magna cum laude and led the Harvard Law Review. Still, Mr. Miller said, he would like to see information about how Mr. Obama performed in various subjects at Columbia. That view is not shared by other election observers, including some who have themselves indulged the public's interest in candidates' academic records. One of them is Geoffrey Kabaservice, a political historian who in 2000 published Senator Bradley's relatively low score of 485 on the verbal SAT. Mr. Bradley, a Rhodes Scholar who was a star basketball player at Princeton, was running for the Democratic presidential nomination. "It's awfully hard to correlate anything, really, about a person on the basis of their grades," Mr. Kabaservice said, explaining that he published Mr. Bradley's score to highlight limitations in intelligence testing. He said he doubted that candidates' grades have affected the outcome of any recent presidential elections. "For people who didn't like George W. Bush, for example, the grade aspect only confirmed what they thought about him," Mr. Kabaservice said. "And for everybody else, it made him more of a regular guy." The Obama campaign declined to comment for this article and did not offer an explanation for why his transcript has not been released. But observers speculated that one reason might be the racially charged nature of the election. Mr. Obama has acknowledged benefiting from affirmative action in the past, and details about his academic performance might open him up to critics eager to accuse him, probably unfairly, of receiving a free ride, Mr. Kabaservice said. "Anyone who is a minority and who's come up partially through the meritocracy — getting into good colleges, and subsequently good law schools — is going to come under suspicion that there was some kind of affirmative action boost," he said. "I suspect this is an area of discomfort for Obama." In contrast with the rest of Mr. Obama's life story, little is known about his college experience. He attended Occidental College in Los Angeles for two years before transferring to Columbia in 1981. The move receives only a mention in Mr. Obama's 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father," which instead devotes that chapter to his impressions of race and class struggles in New York.An article in a Columbia University publication, Columbia College Today, reported that Mr. Obama has portrayed Columbia as a period of buckling down following a troubled adolescence. He did not socialize much, he has said , instead spending a lot of time in the library, "like a monk." He has also stated that he was involved to some extent with the Black Students Organization. Federal law limits the information that Columbia can release about Mr. Obama's time there. A spokesman for the university, Brian Connolly, confirmed that Mr. Obama spent two years at Columbia College and graduated in 1983[/u] with a major in political science. He did not receive honors, Mr. Connolly said, though specific information on his grades is sealed. A program from the 1983 graduation ceremony lists him as a graduate. More is known about Mr. McCain's experience at the United States Naval Academy, where he was a self-described troublemaker and graduated in the bottom 1% of his class. The McCain campaign has declined to release his transcript, saying that his performance at the academy can only be viewed in the context of his larger military career. "His record stands on its own," a McCain spokesman, Peter Feldman, said. "His time spent in college was part of the transformative years that made him who he was." Columbia Remembers Obama, Even If Libertarian Loser VP Candidate Can't

Here's a satisfying post-election shakeout of one of the rumors that Obama detractors stirred up: remember that accusation Libertarian VP nominee and Columbia alum Wayne Allyn Root made about Obama padding his resume with a fake Columbia University degree? "I think the most dangerous thing you should know about Barack Obama is that I don't know a single person at Columbia that knows him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever!." (He also told Reason that he would bet a million dollars that, if Obama had in fact attended Columbia, he had made a better GPA.) Well, Root can STFU because Columbia is making a big fuss about their grad, sending out an e-mail to their community about how Obama is the first Columbia graduate to be elected President.
An excerpt from the e-mail sent out by Columbia's President:
Dear Columbian,
Yesterday’s election was historic, of course, and all of us who have graduated from Columbia have special reason for excitement. We note with pride that Barack Obama ‘83CC will be not only the first African-American but also the first Columbia degree-holder to occupy the Oval Office.
At Columbia we think continually about our role in helping to prepare remarkable men and women for leadership. With one alumnus, David Paterson ‘78CC, now serving as Governor of New York and another elected to the nation’s highest office, we are reminded of the University’s core commitment to public service and its tradition of producing outstanding leaders for our nation and our world...
All the best,
Lee C. Bollinger ‘71LAW President Columbia University
[via Lux Nightmare]
Oh, and here's what Root told Reason about the million-dollars thing:
Root: And I'd be willing to bet every dime I have in the world, a million dollars I'll put, I'll put a million dollars cash on the fact—
Welch: This is on the record—
Root: —that my GPA was better than Barack's—
Welch: Oooooh.

The Missing Obama Records: Did Obama Attend Columbia? An interesting article appeared yesterday at Unqualified Reservations, "Did Barack Obama Go to Columbia?". Interesting because it speculates that the reason the Obama campaign has not released his Columbia records is--that Barack Obama didn't really attend Columbia. Far-fetched? Perhaps, but not as far-fetched as a candidate getting this far in the political process without the press issuing its normal calls to see records. My question is: was Barack Obama ever a student at Columbia? Because here's how one scurrilous compendium of racist smears puts it: Obama graduated from Columbia College in 1983, and after spending a year in New York, moved to Chicago. Wayne Allyn Root says, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knows him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever! ... Nobody recalls him. I'm not exaggerating, I'm not kidding. Questioner: Were you the exact same class? Root: Class of '83 political science, pre-law Columbia University. You don't get more exact than that. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him. At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, 20th reunion, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! Who was he, and five years ago, nobody even knew who he was... the guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him. Is that not strange? It's very strange... When asked about his undergraduate training at Columbia University, The New Times states that Obama "declined repeated requests to talk about his New York years, release his Columbia transcript or identify even a single fellow student, co-worker, roommate or friend from those years."Many of his classmates don't remember Obama. He's not in the yearbook. Columbia couldn't find a picture of him at school. What can be said with some certainty is that Mr. Obama lived off campus while at Columbia in 1981-83 and made few friends. Fox News contacted some 400 of his classmates and found no one who remembered him.As the author, Mencius Moldbug, observes: "What is the chance that a budding young politician of undeniable talent and promise spends his junior and senior years at Columbia, and no one remembers him? What is the chance that my right ass cheek, through spontaneous quantum vibration, suddenly transmutes into a hemisphere of polished gold? Don't you feel these probabilities are at least roughly comparable?" The normal minions of the Obama campaign descended upon the blog, filling the comments section with their usual spammery. But, this article points to one inescapable fact. If Obama released his Columbia records, such speculation--well-reasoned as it is--simply would not be written. Moldbug could be writing about Obama's re-distributionary policies. Moldbug asks a few questions that would have been answered already--if Barack Obama had released his Columbia records. Barack or Barry - note that he is still Barry while at Occidental; at the next place we know he existed, Harvard Law, he has become Barack - spends two years at Columbia. He presumably receives two years worth of college credits. By taking two years worth of college courses. Furthermore, in every other period of his life, he is known as the gregarious and charismatic young man he obviously was. Nor can his looks be described as ordinary. Nor is even his name ordinary. This man is a future president. And no one remembers him? No one?The Columbia records are part of a pattern: no medical records released to the press; no Occidental records released to the press; no Harvard University records released to the press; no Columbia records released to the press; the fight to gain access to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge records; no original birth certificate released to the press There's also another pattern: the press is perfectly satisfied to be kept in the dark. In 2004, CBS News had such a burning desire to see George Bush's service records, they foisted forged documents onto their viewers .
Perhaps that explains why CBS News has exhibited no curiosity to see the unreleased Obama records?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barack Obama certainly is a candidate for change. Consider:
Barack Obama is the first candidate to opt out of public financing--after he promised on national TV he would not--since public financing started in 1976. That's quite a change.
Barack Obama has not released his college, university or medical records. Obama has released more books (2) than he has records (0). That's also quite a charge.
Barack Obama showed up in Joe the Plumber's neighborhood; Joe asked Obama a question and Obama's answer reveals an unpleasant fact: Obama wants to "spread (Joe's) wealth around". Obama partisans use state computers to look into Joe's supposedly private records and then leak the info to a lapdog press that publishes and broadcasts it. That's certainly a change.
A Democrat attorney has to file suit in an attempt to see Barack Obama's birth certificate. The suit was dismissed over the issue of "standing". But the Obama legal team fought the suit instead of showing Obama's original birth certificate.
That's a lot of change.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be easy enough to dispel the speculation surrounding the past that shrouds Barack Obama: Obama could release his records from Columbia.
And Occidental College.
And Harvard University.
And his medical records.
And his original birth certificate.
But he won't--and the press won't ask him.
Absent any of these records--which Obama has refused to release--speculation is not only correct, it's to be expected.
Obama has chosen to be a "fill-in-the-blanks" candidate.
Until the Obama records see the light of day, we'll fill in a few of those blanks.
Anyone who disagrees?
They know nothing; they are merely speculating as well.

Paul Begala on CNN panel night of Obama's official election vicory November 4, 2008: "Those who talk do not know, those who know do not talk." This is a standard agency-spook refrain proverb that some US politico cryptially makes in public now and then, Fohn Fennon also said this in pubic in the late 1970s. Now what was Begala referring to, we wonder.... No last name given for this alleged Pakistani roommate; this guy himself has never come forward or said anything in publis, assuming he even exists/existed. See below text of the above link. FISHIER AND FISHIER:Obama’s Illegal Alien Pakistani Roommate Mr. Obama’s inadvertent admission of spending a college vacation in 1981 in Pakistan has also shown a light on yet another qualification he has for the Presidency. For Mr. Obama at one time befriended and ultimately roomed with an illegal alien from Pakistan while attending Columbia University. Behold the momentous details from Mr. Obama’s first autobiography, Dreams From My Father: CHAPTER SIX I SPENT MY FIRST NIGHT in Manhattan curled up in an alleyway. It wasn’t intentional; while still in L.A., I had heard that a friend of a friend would be vacating her apartment in Spanish Harlem, near Columbia, and that given New York’s real estate market I’d better grab it while I could. An agreement was reached; I wired ahead with the date of my August arrival; and after dragging my luggage through the airport, the subways, Times Square, and across 109th from Broadway to Amsterdam, I finally stood at the door, a few minutes past ten P.M. I pressed the buzzer repeatedly, but no one answered. The street was empty, the buildings on either side boarded up, a bulk of rectangular shadows. Eventually, a young Puerto Rican woman emerged from the building, throwing a nervous look my way before heading down the street. I rushed to catch the door before it slammed shut, and, pulling my luggage behind me, proceeded upstairs to knock, and then bang, on the apartment door. Again, no answer, just a sound down the hall of a deadbolt thrown into place. New York. Just like I pictured it. I checked my wallet-not enough money for a motel. I knew one person in New York, a guy named Sadik whom I’d met in L.A., but he’d told me that he worked all night at a bar somewhere. With nothing to do but wait, I carried my luggage back downstairs and sat on the stoop. After a while, I reached into my back pocket, pulling out the letter I’d been carrying since leaving L.A. … It was well past midnight by the time I crawled through a fence that led to an alleyway. I found a dry spot, propped my luggage beneath me, and fell asleep, the sound of drums softly shaping my dreams. In the morning, I woke up to find a white hen pecking at the garbage near my feet. Across the street, a homeless man was washing himself at an open hydrant and didn’t object when I joined him. There was still no one home at the apartment, but Sadik answered his phone when I called him and told me to catch a cab to his place on the Upper East Side. He greeted me on the street, a short, well-built Pakistani who had come to New York from London two years earlier and found his caustic wit and unabashed desire to make money perfectly pitched to the city’s mood. He had overstayed his tourist visa and now made a living in New York’s high-turnover, illegal immigrant workforce, waiting on tables. As we entered the apartment I saw a woman in her underwear sitting at the kitchen table, a mirror and a razor blade pushed off to one side. “Sophie,” Sadik started to say, “this is Barry –” “Barack,” I corrected, dropping my bags on the floor. The woman waved vaguely, then told Sadik that she’d be gone by the time he got back. I followed Sadik back downstairs and into a Greek coffee shop across the street. I apologized again about having called so early. “Don’t worry about it,” Sadik said. “She seemed much prettier last night.” He studied the menu, then set it aside. “So tell me, Bar-sorry. Barack. Tell me, Barack. What brings you to our fair city?” I tried to explain. I had spent the summer brooding over a misspent youth, I said-the state of the world and the state of my soul. “I want to make amends,” I said. “Make myself of some use.” Sadik broke open the yolk of an egg with his fork. “Well, amigo…you can talk all you want about saving the world, but this city tends to eat away at such noble sentiments. Look out there.” He gestured to the crowd along First Avenue. “Everybody looking out for number one. Survival of the fittest. Tooth and claw. Elbow the other guy out of the way. That, my friend, is New York. But…” He shrugged and mopped up some egg with his toast. “Who knows? Maybe you’ll be the exception. In which case I will doff my hat to you.” Sadik tipped his coffee cup toward me in mock salute, his eyes searching for any immediate signs of change. And in the coming months he would continue to observe me as I traveled, like a large lab rat, through the byways of Manhattan. He would suppress a grin when the seat I had offered to a middle-aged woman on the subway was snatched up by a burly young man. At Bloomingdale’s, he would lead me past human mannequins who spritzed perfume into the air and watch my reaction as I checked over the eye-popping price tags on winter coats. He would offer me lodging again when I gave up the apartment on 109th for lack of heat, and accompany me to Housing Court when it turned out that the sublessors of my second apartment had failed to pay the rent and run off with my deposit. “Tooth and claw, Barack. Stop worrying about the rest of these bums out here and figure out how you’re going to make some money out of this fancy degree you’ll be getting.” When Sadik lost his own lease, we moved in together. And after a few months of closer scrutiny, he began to realize that the city had indeed had an effect on me, although not the one he’d expected. I stopped getting high. I ran three miles a day and fasted on Sundays. For the first time in years, I applied myself to my studies and started keeping a journal of daily reflections and very bad poetry. Whenever Sadik tried to talk me into hitting a bar, I’d beg off with some tepid excuse, too much work or not enough cash. One day, before leaving the apartment in search of better company, he turned to me and offered his most scathing indictment. “You’re becoming a bore.” I knew he was right, although I wasn’t sure myself what exactly had happened. In a way, I was confirming Sadik’s estimation of the city’s allure, I suppose; its consequent power to corrupt. With the Wall Street boom, Manhattan was humming, new developments cropping up everywhere; men and women barely out of their twenties already enjoying ridiculous wealth, the fashion merchants fast on their heels. The beauty, the filth, the noise, and the excess, all of it dazzled my senses; there seemed no constraints on originality of lifestyles or the manufacture of desire-a more expensive restaurant, a finer suit of clothes, a more exclusive nightspot, a more beautiful woman, a more potent high. Uncertain of my ability to steer a course of moderation, fearful of falling into old habits, I took on the temperament if not the convictions of a street corner preacher, prepared to see temptation everywhere, ready to overrun a fragile will. My reaction was more than just an attempt to curb an excessive appetite, though, or a response to sensory overload. Beneath the hum, the motion, I was seeing the steady fracturing of the world taking place. I had seen worse poverty in Indonesia and glimpsed the violent mood of inner-city kids in L.A.; I had grown accustomed, everywhere, to suspicion between the races. But whether because of New York’s density or because of its scale, it was only now that I began to grasp the almost mathematical precision with which America’s race and class problems joined; the depth, the ferocity, of resulting tribal wars; the bile that flowed freely not just out on the streets but in the stalls of Columbia’s bathrooms as well, where, no matter how many times the administration tried to paint them over, the walls remained scratched with blunt correspondence between black persons and kikes… Like most of this tome, this passage is weird in any number of ways. And of course, like every other episode in the book, it ends with racism. Which is always “topic A,” with Mr. Obama. (By the way, there aren’t any alleys in Manhattan.) Like the Bushes-Cheney regime, Barack H. Obama is posing an extreme threat to freedom and civil liberties. Where is the (CIA-)ACLU? Puppet Replacing Puppet-Leaders: I found this on antiwar.com : White House to Merge Domestic, International Security Staffs Obama to Create "Global Engagement Directorate"by Jason Ditz, May 26, 2009 Email This | Print This | Share This | Comment President Obama announced today that he will be combining the White House staffs dealing with international and homeland security, claiming that the move would “make Americans safer.” The president will establish a “global engagement directorate” and a “National Security staff” that will deal with all policymaking related to “international, transnational, and homeland security matters.” National Security Adviser James Jones will head the staff. Jones, a former Marine commandant, praised the move, saying that “terror around the world doesn’t recognize borders.” President Obama said the move “will end the artificial divide between White House staff who have been dealing with national security and homeland security issues.” The statement was issued as a press release, though it largely took a back seat to the revelation of the president’s choice for the Supreme Court. It claimed to be a required move to “deal with new and emerging 21st Century challenges,” with cybersecurity at the top of the list - even ahead of WMD terrorism. To that end, the president is expected to appoint an Internet Czar [!] later this week, a position which will have broad oversight both government-run and private networks. The position will said to report to both Jones and top White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We found the real 'Hotel California' and the 'Seinfeld' diner. Obama's "Open Government" Deletes Top Proposal on "End Imperial Presidency"afterdowningstreet.org/node/43228By David Swanson Is irony even the word for this? The president created a new online "open government" system in which people were free to brainstorm and vote proposals up or down. Far and away the leading proposal in the category of "Legal and Policy Challenges" as of the scheduled end of brainstorming was End Imperial Presidency. You can still find it, but it's been removed from that category and from the list of all proposals. Unless you have the direct link to it, you cannot find it, and when you do you can no longer vote for it. It has a label at the top with a closed lock and the words "pending moderator approval." When voting was scheduled to end on the 28th, this proposal was at the top in its category and ranked #3 over all. Then the Open Government announced that it would keep the brainstorming open until June 19th and not begin Phase 2, involving discussion of the brainstormed ideas until June 3rd. So, voting continued, and "End Imperial Presidency" moved up to second place over all. And here we are on June 3rd, and the proposal has been removed from the running. I'm not sure if you call this irony, but I definitely wouldn't call it Open Government. During the campaign, the top demand of Obama's supporters on his website was that he keep his promise to oppose and filibuster immunity for telecom companies. During the presidential transition, the top question was whether Obama would allow the attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor for Bush-Cheney. Both of those proposals were rejected. Now this one has been rejected as well. In case it's deleted from the "Open" Government, this was the proposal to end the imperial presidency:Leave the White House less imperial than you found it. Appoint an independent prosecutor to prosecute Bush, Cheney, and their top officials in order to deter in the future the crimes of aggressive war, misleading congress, defrauding congress, misspending funds, war crimes, murder, warrantless spying, torture, domestic propaganda, violations of the Hatch Act and the Voting Rights Act, obstruction of justice, misprision of felony, retaliating against whistleblowers, etc. Restore to Congress the power to legislate, the power to begin and end wars, the power to raise and spend money, the power to approve or reject treaties and appointments, and the power to oversee the functioning of the federal government including through the power of impeachment and the power of inherent contempt. That means no more signing statements rewriting laws, and instead support for legislation that would criminalize such behavior. And it means similar action on each of the other offenses. We, the people, must: Demand that Congress ban the use of funds for any activities created in violation of the law by presidential signing statements. Amend the Constitution to clearly ban the use of presidential pardons to pardon crimes authorized by the president. Amend the War Powers Act and the Constition to include the requirement that Congressional authorizations of war include time limits of no more than 12 months, after which Congress must vote again to extend the war or end it, to disallow the unconstitutional initiation of wars without Congressional approval, and to make the law enforceable.Make war profiteering by any war maker a major felony. This would apply to any employee of the federal government or anyone who had within the past decade been an employee of the federal government.Legislate a requirement that, in any war, the military aged children and grandchildren of the president, the vice president, all cabinet officials, and all Congress members serve on the front lines in the most dangerous combat positions -- no exceptions, no exemptions. Prohibit the use of mercenaries or any armed contractors, as well as the use of any military force on American soil except when directly engaged in defensive war against a foreign nation. Repeal the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005, the Military Commissions Act of 2006, the 2008 FISA Amendments Act, the Protect America Act, the original Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the PATRIOT Act.Ban secret budgets, secret laws, and secret agencies.Change the Senate rules to eliminate the filibuster. Create a task force to research whether the Senate has ever served any useful purpose not better served by the House. End all rendition, as distinct from extradition.Amend the Constitution to make the ban on ex-post-facto laws include any laws that would retroactively grant immunity for crimes. Amend the Constitution to bar the vice president from exercising executive power. Amend the Constitution to clarify the congressional power of inherent contempt. Amend the Constitution to include the right to vote and to have one's vote counted publicly at the polling place.Give Washington, D.C., full voting representation in Congress. Amend the Constitution to ban private financing of campaigns, create public financing, and provide free air time to candidates. Sign and ratify the Rome treaty to join the International Criminal Court. ***** OPTIONAL PART 2 OF THIS PROPOSAL - Drafted and withheld at first, posted May 29th in response to useful comments from ttahiti and many others posted below. Release more evidence, and support organizations suing in court for the release of evidence. Ask Congress to update and reissue the subpoenas that were refused during the 110th Congress, and to enforce them through inherent contempt. Support media reform and independent media outlets. Break up the monopolies. Invest in public media, including an E-Span election network to provide free substantive election coverage. Advance a long-term vision in which the corrupting influences of money, media, and party are restrained, and our rights are restored, enforced, and expanded, including the right to vote and to have our votes counted publicly and locally, equal rights for all, environmental rights, the right to education and healthcare, worker rights, the right to basic welfare, freedom of press, freedom from war lies, and the right to know your rights. Push for approval, ratification, and enforcement of international human rights treaties. Build toward Constitutional amendments or a convention with a plan to establish the right to know the laws and to have them applied equally, a ban on signing statements, whistleblowers protected, inherent contempt established, corporations stripped of human rights, monopolies restricted, clean campaign money and free media created, the power of parties reduced, nonpartisan (not bipartisan) redistricting, limiting election seasons, no more electoral college, a bigger House with no Senate, the right to be represented, no appointing of senators, limiting terms for judges, requiring a balanced budget, limiting bills to single topics and requiring clarity, allowing legislation by public initiative, allowing recall elections, creating citizen assemblies, and developing a fourth (people's) branch of government. Why Is This Idea Important? Empires end and they can end happily by voluntarily reforming, or they can end miserably by refusing to. -- p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 12.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Times} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 12.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Times; min-height: 14.0px} David Swanson is the author of the upcoming book "Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union" by Seven Stories Press. They may have deleted the one thread on the Imperial Presidency, but the White House has also deleted 40-50 threads and thousands of comments asking Barry-in-Chief to PROVE HIS IDENTITY and commitment to transparency by releasing his full birth records and college records (and passport etc).

Obama is useless. Worse than that, he's dangerous. Mr. Obama…. Resign Now With Democrats Like Him, Who Needs Dictators? informationclearinghouse.info/article22762.htm By Ted Rall June 03, 2009 "Information Clearing House" — MIAMI--We expected broken promises. But the gap between the soaring expectations that accompanied Barack Obama's inauguration and his wretched performance is the broadest such chasm in recent historical memory. This guy makes Bill Clinton look like a paragon of integrity and follow-through. From healthcare to torture to the economy to war, Obama has reneged on pledges real and implied. So timid and so owned is he that he trembles in fear of offending, of all things, the government of Turkey. Obama has officially reneged on his campaign promise to acknowledge the Armenian genocide. When a president doesn't have the 'nads to annoy the Turks, why does he bother to show up for work in the morning? Obama is useless. Worse than that, he's dangerous. Which is why, if he has any patriotism left after the thousands of meetings he has sat through with corporate contributors, blood-sucking lobbyists and corrupt politicians, he ought to step down now--before he drags us further into the abyss. I refer here to Obama's plan for "preventive detentions." If a cop or other government official thinks you might want to commit a crime someday, you could be held in "prolonged detention." Reports in U.S. state-controlled media imply that Obama's shocking new policy would only apply to Islamic terrorists (or, in this case, wannabe Islamic terrorists, and also kinda-sorta-maybe-thinking-about-terrorism dudes). As if that made it OK. In practice, Obama wants to let government goons snatch you, me and anyone else they deem annoying off the street. Preventive detention is the classic defining characteristic of a military dictatorship. Because dictatorial regimes rely on fear rather than consensus, their priority is self-preservation rather than improving their people's lives. They worry obsessively over the one thing they can't control, what Orwell called "thoughtcrime"--contempt for rulers that might someday translate to direct action. Locking up people who haven't done anything wrong is worse than un-American and a violent attack on the most basic principles of Western jurisprudence. It is contrary to the most essential notion of human decency. That anyone has ever been subjected to "preventive detention" is an outrage. That the President of the United States, a man who won an election because he promised to elevate our moral and political discourse, would even entertain such a revolting idea offends the idea of civilization itself. Obama is cute. He is charming. But there is something rotten inside him. Unlike the Republicans who backed Bush, I won't follow a terrible leader just because I voted for him. Obama has revealed himself. He is a monster, and he should remove himself from power. "Prolonged detention," reported The New York Times, would be inflicted upon "terrorism suspects who cannot be tried." "Cannot be tried." Interesting choice of words. Any "terrorism suspect" (can you be a suspect if you haven't been charged with a crime?) can be tried. Anyone can be tried for anything. At this writing, a Somali child is sitting in a prison in New York, charged with piracy in the Indian Ocean, where the U.S. has no jurisdiction. Anyone can be tried. Why is it, exactly, that some prisoners "cannot be tried"? The Old Grey Lady explains why Obama wants this "entirely new chapter in American law" in a boring little sentence buried a couple past the jump and a couple of hundred words down page A16: "Yet another question is what to do with the most problematic group of Guantánamo detainees: those who pose a national security threat but cannot be prosecuted, either for lack of evidence or because evidence is tainted." In democracies with functioning legal systems, it is assumed that people against whom there is a "lack of evidence" are innocent. They walk free. In countries where the rule of law prevails, in places blessedly free of fearful leaders whose only concern is staying in power, "tainted evidence" is no evidence at all. If you can't prove that a defendant committed a crime--an actual crime, not a thoughtcrime--in a fair trial, you release him and apologize to the judge and jury for wasting their time. It is amazing and incredible, after eight years of Bush's lawless behavior, to have to still have to explain these things. For that reason alone, Obama should resign.

snopes was one of the idiot sycophant sites that was campaigning for Obama back when the rest of us were trying to get something done about this....BEFORE he was elected.
Obama was born in Kenya. No one ever demanded that he prove he met the criteria of being a natural born citizen.
His mother was a minor and therefore even though she was a citizen (his father was not) his birth to her didn't automatically grant him US citizenship status either.
