Document forensics expert: Obama "birth certificate" a "horrible forgery"

The purported Certification of Live Birth published by the Daily Kos left wing blog and claimed as genuine by the Obama campaign features a security border that differs dramatically from security borders on COLB documents before and after the one supposedly printed out for Obama in 2007.

Barack Obama may be on a world tour surrounded by a fawning media, but Sunday an expert in electronic document forensics released a detailed report on the purported birth certificate -- actually a "Certification of Live Birth" or COLB -- claimed as genuine by his campaign. The expert concludes with 100% certainty that it is a crudely forged fake: "a horribly forgery," according to the analysis published on the popular right-wing Atlas Shrugs blog.

The purported birth certificate was published by the left wing Daily Kos blog on June 12 in response to unconfirmed reports that Obama was not in fact born in the United States (Canada and Kenya were suggested as the possible locations of his actual birth). Since he would in that case not be a natural born US citizen (his mother was not present in the US sufficiently long as an adult to pass American citizenship on to him automatically), he would not be eligible to be president. Israel Insider has followed the story in five previous articles (the previous one here) and uncovered evidence, most recently, of admitted forgery among Daily Kos bloggers, tolerance of electronic forgeries on the blog site, as well as efforts by a blog administrator to conceal the admission of forgery.

The latest examinaton of the purported documents is by far the most detailed and technically sophisticated to date.

Atlas Shrugs publisher Pamela Geller reports that the expert analyst, who goes by the screen name "Techdude", is "an active member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American College of Forensic Examiners, The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners, International Information Systems Forensics Association -- the list goes on. He also a board certified as a forensic computer examiner, a certificated legal investigator, and a licensed private investigator. He has been performing computer-based forensic investigations since 1993 (although back then it did not even have a formal name yet) and he has performed countless investigations since then."




Perhaps the outspoken Israeli press corps will be able to do what their fawning American counterparts have failed to do so far. Obama's visit this week to Israel will be an opportunity to begin asking the tough questions -- however unpolitically correct -- about his apparently forged birth certificate and what that means for his citizenship status and Constitutional fitness to be the next leader of the free world.


The pseudonym was apparently inadequate to prevent Techdude's identity from being exposed. He reports that last week one or more persons "decided to track me down and vandalize my car and hang a dead mutilated rabbit from my front door in a lame attempt to intimidate me from proceeding with releasing any details of my analysis. They did succeed in delaying the report by a few days but instead of deterring me they just really pissed me off. To their credit, if I had not taken a few days off from the analysis I would have missed the most d**ning piece of evidence -- the remnants of the previous security border."

Techdude's detailed report, which runs more than 3000 words and 20 pages with extensive magnified illustrations and comparisons, reaches the following conclusion about the documented that was first published on the Daily Kos extreme left-wing blog and subsequently publicly endorsed by the Obama campaign, both in statements by official spokesmen, and featured on its "Fight the Smears" website. Here are some of conclusions:

"The (Daily) KOS image security border pattern does not match any known specimen from any known year. It does not match the pre-2006 nor does it match the post-2006 certificate patterns. The placement of the text in all of the pre-2006 and post-2006 certificates are almost identical pixel location matches while the image?s text placement does not match any known specimen from any known year. The shape and kerning of the fonts used in the 2006 through 2008 certificates are identical while the shape and kerning of the fonts used in the image does not match any known specimen. The KOS image shows clear signs of tampering such as the mismatch in RGB and error levels, visible indications of the previous location of the erased security border, easily detectable patterns of repeating flaws around the new security border, EXIF data that says the image was last saved with Photoshop CS3 for Macintosh, and finally a technician from Hawaii who confirms it just looks wrong."

The evidence, he says, allows for two possible scenarios by which the document was fabricated:

"There are two obvious scenarios used to create the image that can be ascertained from evidence. Either a real COLB was scanned into Photoshop and digitally edited or a real COLB was first scanned to obtain the graphic layout then blanked by soaking the document in solvent to remove the toner. After rescanning the blank page to a separate image the graphics from the previously obtained scan could then be easily applied to the blank scan after some editing and rebuilding. It would also explain why date stamp bleeds through the paper and the various bits of toner located around the image as well as the remnants of the previous location of a security border."

The purported birth certificate was published by the Daily Kos on June 12 in response to unconfirmed reports that Obama was not in fact born in the United States (Canada and Kenya were suggested as the possible locations of his actual birth). After more than a month of controversy and demands that the Obama campaign produce a paper birth certificate for analysis, this d**ning new evidence raises the stakes for the democratic party and its front-runner.

Will Obama and his people continue to stonewall in the facing of the mounting evidence of forgery, and provide paper proof of an authentic, original birth certificate or even a genuine secondary Certificate of Live Birth? And will the mass media and mainstream pundits -- which so far have hesitated to touch the hot potato -- finally address the loaded issue of his possible unfitness to meet the basic Constitutional requirement for a President?

The latest controversy stirring in the camp of the Democratic Presidential candidate revolves around a piece of paper. Barack Obama has thus far abstained from releasing his birth certificate. While in the past many would say such a small matter is an ultimately unimportant matter, in this case it has caused what seems to be a major ruckus among many voters. With the rumors dispelled earlier in Obama's fight for the candidacy coming back into play, some have become skeptical, nervous, and overall anxious over the Illinois Senator's refusal to release the document.

So why should a piece of paper cause such a major commotion? The main issue revolves around the rumors associated with the Obama campaign's withholding of the document. Among them are questions of the place of Senator Obama's birth and some hidden truth behind the Senator's name.

The first rumor is that Senator Obama was actually born in Kenya. This rumor seems to have originated in an email stating to have some hidden information about the details of the Senator's birth. According to the email, Barack Obama's mother was living in Kenya at the time of his birth. The email goes on to allege that after his birth, his mother took him to Hawaii to register the birth.

The issue was raised on Snopes.com, where claims of his Kenyan birth were quickly disseminated, soon becoming claims that the non-American native was running for President in an attempt to disrupt the framework of the United States. Claims of everything from Obama being some sort of conniving secret-Muslim seeking to destroy America to his being the Anti-Christ became all the rage in online forums and blogs. Yet these claims were quickly disputed, and all but forgotten . . . until now.

Now, with the refusal to release his birth certificate, Barack Obama seems to have rekindled the flame beneath this rumor. The benefit and drawback of releasing the document, then, fall along the same lines: releasing it could either prove these claims true, or quickly and efficiently prove them false.

He has a computer generated birth certificate on his site, but not one that is signed and sealed. Now, today another fellow blogger, Charles Bowley, from Massachusetts has reported theat the RNC has already sent their operatives to Mosamba, kenya and have procured the birth certificate of Barack. What is really alarming is that the RNC has evidence to show that an Arab, light skinned woman is the mother. Charliverse So, just for discussion, I wanted to discuss the two charts, assuming that the birth time is 7:24 PM, but obviously in distinctly different time zones. Because Hawaii is 8 time zones west of kenya,..........

The next paragraph was written earlier, when astrologers thought that perhaps there was an authentic birth certificate for Barry Dunham aka/Barack Hussenin Obama/aka Barry Soetoro. That doesn't seem to be forthcoming, as the Obama campaign has produced several copies of the so-called birth certificate which have since been "debunked" by Photoshop experts. Apparently, several Obamabots have Photoshopped a birth certificate using animage that was available on Photobucket. Later a seal was added to it using GIMP software.

Blogger and Brooklyn College Professor of Business Mitchell Langbert has been doing a yeoman’s job investigating the records of Senator Obama’s birth certificate. Despite the pleas from many quarters of the blogosphere, thus far his birth certificate has not been made public, except for a proven forgery on the Daily Kos site and his own campaign site Fight the Smears. At this time, there is no proof that Barack Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States, and therefore no proof of his eligibility to be president. What should be a simple matter of producing a paper document from the State of Hawaii Public Information Office under the Freedom of Information Act especially for a candidate who seeks to promote change, openness and transparency, has turned into a crisis of stonewalling and fraud, offering up only blurred jpegs and photoshopped forgeries of the alleged original - a story that the media will hardly touch. But now the scandal has exploded into a rampage of intimidation, censorship and veiled threats by Obama’s supporters against bloggers and investigators who continue to pursue this issue. Now Professor Langbert’s blog has been shut down, just as traffic was increasing to his blog in support of a petition for the release of Obama’s true birth certificate. In place of the media’s dereliction of duty to inform the public, it falls on the shoulders of such blogs as the Democracy Project, on which Langbert was a former blogger, to expose the full story.

As the recent firestorm was brewing over the absence of Obama’s actual birth certificate, Daily Kos published a jpeg image to quell the swirling rumors that Obama’s country of birth was not United States of America and questions about his religion, his original name, his mother’s country of birth, and his father’s origins. Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs has a reader named Techdude, a certified forensic computer examiner, who began an investigation into the authenticity of the document. Techdude lists as his credentials, membership in the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American College of Forensic Examiners, The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners, and other similar organizations. As his rigorous analysis proceeded, someone tracked down his name and address and vandalized his car and hung a mutilated rabbit from his front door in order to frighten him to cease publication of the results of his investigation, which was the evidence that the birth certificate proved to be a fraud.

Political blogger Raquel Okyay sumed up the feelings of many fellow Americans who are sick and tired of being sthingy fed political propaganda by the media. If people continue to be content to put certain media stars up on pedestals, neither questioning the facts nor holding these political leaders to account, they will then be ruled by the leaders they deserve.:

Recovering a true copy of Obama’s birth certificate IS important to the general public, because he is being interviewed by us for the most important job in the world, the President of the United States. Unfortunately major networks or newspapers are not covering this story, because if they can keep you from learning new information about Obama, the better chance their candidate will win. This type of media, elitist attitude assumes that the average American fed their propaganda, sthingy by sthingy, are more or less too dumb to see the clear bias in their reporting. Ha! Welcome to the internet, where the voices of average Americans are heard.

Regardless of the candidate, trust is a big issue with the public, and if it is true that Obama’s campaign doctored his birth certificate, it is important that we know it. It doesn’t matter where the “rumor” started, what matters is that as American citizens we have the right by law to learn the truth, it’s called the “Freedom of Information Act”, and it’s at our disposal. So, don’t be scared off by a group of people not interested in truth finding, instead dig, dig and dig.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, Langbert acted on his right to obtain access to the authentic document and requested the same from the State of Hawaii. However, his request was denied in a letter from Janice Okubo, Public Information Officer of the Communications Office of the State of Hawaii who justified the denial by citing state law under a section of the Hawaii Revised Statutes which she claims overrides the federal provisions of FOIA. After exhaustive research Langbert found that the Hawaiian statutes do not contradict federal laws for free public access to information. Rather, “the statute specifically permits divulging birth certificate information to anyone who has a vital interest in the information” and public requests for the birth certificate of a presidential candidate constitutes a vital interest. However, he was further stonewalled after repeated inquiries.

Recognizing this was a dead end, Langbert soon discovered a petition circulating in the State of Illinois demanding that “Barack Hussein Obama produce documentation of American citizenship in the form of a legal birth certificate.” He focused on supporting this approach encouraging the residents of the State of Illinois to sign the petition, although as he noted, a previous petitioner who put the petition up on the website Birth Certificate Now was tracked down and threatened by Obama supporters to close his website ....

Indonesian Citizenship:
Obama acquired Indonesian citizenship when he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro, his step-father. He may still have Indonesian citizenship.

When was Obama going to disclose his Indonesian identity to the American electorate? The legal issues related to dual citizenship can be reasonably argued, and possibly will be.

But the immediate problem at this time, on the eve of the Democratic Convention, is that the “presumed nominee” has lied to the American public by intentionally withholding key information about his background and identity.

If he is an American Citizen and since he's not very old, surely he has up to date hospital records, birth certificates etc. It can't be THAT difficult.

But, if he was told by his mother and step father to use the name Soetoro, he was just a child and had no choice. Is there evidence that it was a legal name change? If not then perhaps he does not legally have to refer to it.

It does seem strange that in a muslim country he would be using the name 'Barry' rather than 'Barak'.

Document, travel suggest 'Barry Soetero' member of world's largest Muslim country

JERUSALEM – Was Sen. Barack Obama a citizen of Indonesia at any point in his life?

That question has been circulating on the blogosphere with increased fury the past few days, since a photograph emerged of Obama's school registration papers as a child in Indonesia – the world's most populous Muslim nation – showing the presidential candidate listed as a "Muslim" with "Indonesian" citizenship.

An investigation into Indonesian citizenship law and a review of Obama's biography and travels suggest the Illinois senator at one point may have been a citizen of Indonesia. That would not necessarily disqualify Obama to run for president, but it could raise loyalty concerns.

A 2007 Associated Press photograph taken by Tatan Syuflana, an Indonesian AP reporter and photographer, surfaced last week on the Daylife.com photographic website showing an image of Obama's registration card at Indonesia's Fransiskus Assisi school, a Catholic institution.

In the picture, Obama is registered under the name Barry Soetoro by his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro. The school card lists Barry Soetoro as a Indonesian citizen born Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His religion is listed as Muslim.

Jack Stokes, manager of media relations for the AP, confirmed to WND the picture is indeed an AP photo.

After attending the Assisi Primary School, Obama later was enrolled at SDN Menteng 1, an Indonesian public school.

Obama's campaign did not return repeated WND phone calls and e-mail queries the past week asking for a clarification regarding the school documentation listing the presidential candidate's citizenship as Indonesian.

Obama spokesmen have stated the candidate is a natural-born citizen amid rumors he may have been born in his father's home country of Kenya, but the campaign has not addressed whether Obama became a citizen of Indonesia at any point.

Every time somebody brings up the discrepancies of Obama's citizenship, or Islamic ties, another will evitably bring up the fact that McCain was born in Panama.

This has already been vetted. McCain's Father was a 4-star Admiral in the Navy. He was stationed in Panama when McCain was born. There is no question of McCain's eligibility, but there are legitimate questions concerning Obama.

What does this mean?

It means that Barack Obama has been hiding his Indonesian identity and citizenship, as we’ve been trying to shout from the rooftops. He may still have Indonesian citizenship; or maybe he dumped it along the way to help polish the path forward for political ambitions.

Never mind; Obama concealed it from us. He lied. He tried to wipe out his past, for fear that it would render him ineligible. He thought he was beyond being vetted, questioned, researched. He thought he was the Messiah.

Larry has more, and I have a feeling this passage alludes to the possibility that Obama used his Indonesian identity (perhaps a passport?) to travel to Pakistan:

Every time somebody brings up the discrepancies of Obama's citizenship, or Islamic ties, another will evitably bring up the fact that McCain was born in Panama.

This has already been vetted. McCain's Father was a 4-star Admiral in the Navy. He was stationed in Panama when McCain was born. McCain Tabloid Watch: I Go There So You Don't Have To
This is the first post inaugurating a new series: the John McCain tabloid watch.

Let's face it: by all indications, John McCain is a corrupt, nasty womanizer with a closet jampacked with a graveyardful of skeletons that seem poised to start tumbling out any minute. A man with a past, as it were. And perhaps with a present as well.

But can we expect to hear anything approaching the truth from McCain's swooning love-slaves in the mainstream media? Alas, I fear we cannot. Indeed, I keep waiting for them all to burst into a chorus of "Twenty Lovesick Maidens We."

But all is not lost: we do have the tabloids, after all.

Scoff at them you may, but the tabs get the goods more often than you may think. For instance, whenever they run a story about the "last days of celebrity X," you'd better believe that celebrity X most certainly has one foot firmly implanted in the grave.

And while their breathless scoops on bed-hopping starlets and debauched rock stars may not always be precisely on the mark, they hit it often enough that they can't be dismissed out of hand.


To judge by some of the links I've received, this blog is being read by some impressively brainy and erudite folk, who are all probably way too classy to soil their beautiful minds with anything so utterly sordid as a tabloid.

Well, I for one have no shame. I have always been fascinated by all manner of gossip. I've read not only Hollywood Babylon, but also Hollywood Babylon II (which, alas, is not nearly so scabrously entertaining as its illustrious predecessor). I'm a longtime fan of Page Six and La Vida Musto. And every week while I'm buying my groceries, I never fail to check out the headlines of the supermarket tabloids.

In short, I have no fear of rushing in where self-respecting intellectuals fear to tread.

With that preface, on to this week's report.



Connie Stevens, alleged McCain paramour, back in her sultry heyday

This week, McCain is featured in a cover story in the National Examiner, one of the weekly tabloids (and btw, the Examiner does not appear to have a website). The headline: "Shocking Charge: John McCain & Connie Stevens Affair!" There's a photo of John and Connie, arm in arm and all smiles; a subhead next to a mug shot of an unidentified man reads "HE ignited scandal -- then was MURDERED!" Well, this sounds promising, I thought to myself.

Here's the story in short order: a in 1999, a "shady businessman and one-time journalist" named Ron Bianchi went to the Arizona Republic to try to hustle a story that McCain was having an affair with his "friend" and political supporter Connie Stevens. Stevens, in case you don't know, was an actress and minor sex symbol back in the day. She's two years younger than McCain.

Well, apparently the Arizona Republic didn't bite. And here's when things start to get interesting -- in the Examiner's words, "Bianchi wound up dying in a hail of gunfire the following September -- a crime that's never been solved!" Moreoever, McCain himself "was reportedly grilled by cops in Gila County, where Bianchi's body was found."

What's the backstory? Well, "the rock-jawed politico" met Stevens at a fundraiser in 1997 and apparently they became fast "friends." She urged him to run for president, saying "If you run, I'll be there for you all the way!" (I love it when the tabloids reconstruct celebs' dialogue). After the two attended Milton Berle's 90th birthday party (!), McCain and "a few friends" went to Stevens' home afterward, although "McCain insists he slept at his hotel that night."

Stevens raised money for McCain, made speeches for him, and "introduced him to some Hollywood bigwigs." This seemed "surprising" to Stevens' friends, who claimed she had never seemed "political."

The upshot? Police investigating Bianchi's death "don't believe McCain had anything to do with" his murder. I know -- oh, rats! But "there are still questions to be answered." And, um, "No one has ever offered any proof of an affair between McCain and Stevens."

Did John and Connie get it on? It's not implausible. In some ways she is very much his type: thin, blonde, bosomy. On the other hand, she's only two years younger than he is, and he seems prefer women young enough to be his daughter (like his wife Cindy) or grand-daughter (like his alleged mistress Vicki Iseman).

But, to my disappointment, this story, at this point anyway, is all sizzle, no steak. There are no compromising photos or letters, no taped phone conversations. And no one who is alleging the affair is willing to go on the record. Or even provide any anonymous salacious quotes or anecdotes, fer chrissakes!

That McCain's alleged paramour was once a Hollywood sex symbol adds some juice to the story, as does the fact that the man who tried to expose their relationship wound up dead under mysterious circumstances. So, okay, the Examiner gets bonus points for glamor (the Hollywood connection) and conspiracy-mongering (the mysterious death). But except for that, this story falls short.

LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- A controversy has erupted over John McCain's wife Cindy. Turns out, she has a half-sister, even though she said otherwise on CNN last month.

National Public Radio says Mrs. McCain's half-sister is Kathleen Portalski who says they have the same father. This means Mrs. McCain is not an only child, as NPR had initially reported.

Portalski says while she was growing up she saw her father and sometimes her half-sister on holidays and birthdays. She says now all she wants is an apology from Cindy McCain, and acknowledgment that they are half-sisters.

The Cuban immigrant to Miami is a dead ringer for Barack Obama, from the broad smile to the close-cropped hair.

He was a construction worker in Miami until about six weeks ago, when he hooked up with online Spanish-language news channel America TeVe (www.americateve.com). Since then, he's been going where Obama goes and causing a stir in each location.

"We make something like a reality show," he said Monday evening, his thick accent proving he's not a soundalike. "We walk in the street with the people."

He draws attention everywhere he goes.

"Sometimes I get tired because everybody stopping me, a lot of questions, sometimes political questions," he says. "I am not Obama."

About a year ago, Puisseaux realized the resemblance. And while Cuban-Americans aren't the biggest faction of the Democratic party, Puisseaux responds, "A fan? Obama? I love him."

Plot to Kill Obama: Shoot From High Vantage Point


DENVER (CBS4) ― CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle ¡­ sighted at 750 yards."

Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."

The story began emerging Sunday morning when Aurora police arrested 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell. He was driving a rented pickup truck in an erratic manner according to sources.

Sources told CBS4 police found two high-powered, scoped rifles in the car along with camouflage clothing, walkie-talkies, a bulletproof vest, a spotting scope, licenses in the names of other people and methamphetamine. One of the rifles is listed as stolen from Kansas.

Subsequently authorities went to the Cherry Creek Hotel to contact an associate of Gartrell's. But that man, who was wanted on numerous warrants, jumped out of a sixth floor hotel window. Law enforcement sources say the man broke an ankle in the fall and was captured moments later. Sources say he was wearing a ring with a swastika, and is thought to have ties to white supremacist organizations.

A third man -- an associate of Gartrell and the hotel jumper was also arrested. He told authorities that the two men "planned to kill Barack Obama at his acceptance speech."

That man, along with a woman, are also under arrest.

The Secret Service, FBI, ATF and the joint terrorism task force are all investigating the alleged plot.

The U.S. Attorney in Denver has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon.

CBS4 will have new details on this developing story at 10pm.
