I'm leaning toward Bill and Alex being the same man or being cloned twins, but more toward the same man, given that Alex makes a lot of his Hollywood and show business connections, came out of nowhere suddenly, and has a lot of money coming in from SOMEWHERE to make those films of his and travel all over promoting them. I think that Cobain/Cuomo is a case of re-created identity. One of the other forums (PID Miss Him?) has material hinting at his hiding in a hotel room for a while, which would be the perfect retreat if you're having identity-changing surgery and don't want that info to leak out.

"Rivers Cuomo"/Kurt Cobain on cover and huge inset "A.V. club" article in "The Onion" this week. "Cuomo" is wearing wraparound sunglasses and appears in a joint interview (inexplicably) with cri top me fiction author James Ellroy.
Interesting timing, for "9-11" sacred memorial day anniversary week, with the Onion placing as its top, front page (anonymously written) piece, with photo, a reused, quite unfunny right wing propaganda thing ridiculing and attacking the "9-11" truth movement and "9-11" victims who ask questions. And using th e South Park-coined deragatory term "truthers" in the headline.

FYI: I just noticed that there is a movie coming out about the life of Bill Hicks called America; you can get it through Direct TV if you have that on your home cable setup. Comes out tomorrow. In the clips they used audio bits of Hicks saying things that made TOTAL sense about him later becoming Alex Jones, stuff about how you couldn't cover anything too deep on TV, how to be a real patriot you had to kick down some chairs or break some walls or something, stuff that almost foreshadows the evolution of the Alex Jones character.
I almost wonder if the "Bill Hicks as Alex Jones" meme hasn't gained so much traction in the conspiracy world that this movie wasn't done to address that? Or put those rumors to rest - or even stir them up?
