"Eddie Murphy Takes "Beverly Hills Cop" to TV
More than 25 years after the first "Beverly Hills Cop" movie was released, Eddie Murphy has reached a deal to bring the story to television.
Along with "The Shield" creator, Shawn Ryan, the 51-year-old comedian secured a pilot production commitment from CBS for a show revolving around the son of Axel Foley, Murphy's slick police detective from the movie and its two sequels.
Aaron Foley would work to take down bad guys in Beverly Hills while dealing with the shadow of his legendary father. Eddie will reprise the role of Axel and may have a recurring spot if the show is picked up.
Rather than taking the project to the big screen, the "Coming to America" star told Rolling Stone, "none of the movie scripts [for a new sequel] were right.â€
Will sheeple make the difference? No way, like usual....

"Eddie Murphy Is The Most Overpaid Actor In Hollywood
Poor Eddie Murphy desperately needs a comeback. Remember back in the day when he was so funny on "Saturday Night Live" and in movies like "Trading Places" and "Beverly Hills Cop"? His voice work has helped make movies like "Shrek" and "Mulan" tolerable for adults, and even his family-friendly movies, like "Norbit" and "Dr. Dolittle," were good for some chuckles.
But lately, Murphy’s career has just collapsed. "Imagine That," "A Thousand Words" and "Meet Dave" were colossal flops. Last year’s "Tower Heist," which was supposed to be something of a return to form for the comedian, failed to wow at the box office, earning $153 million on an estimated budget of $75 million. (In order to even come close to turning a profit, a movie has to earn twice its production budget in ticket sales, plus the millions spent on marketing.) Murphy then backed out of hosting the Oscars, which didn’t help his reputation.
His string of flops lands Murphy at the top of our Most Overpaid Actors list for 2012. We estimate that for every $1 Murphy was paid for his last three films, they returned an average of $2.30 at the box office.
To compile our list, we used data on actors’ earnings gathered for our Celebrity 100 list. Box office grosses and budget estimates are from Box Office Mojo. We looked at the last three films each actor starred in over the last three years that opened in more than 2,000 theaters, calculating the return on investment for the studios who pay his (or her) salary."

"Eddie Murphy to reprise role as Axel Foley in new Beverly Hills Cop TV series
Eddie Murphy is to reprise his role from Beverly Hills Cop - this time for a TV series.
He will play the dad of a young cop in the series being made for CBS TV.
Murphy's role as smart talking Axel Foley made him a household name and the success of the original 1984 film spawned two sequels.
The TV series will feature Foley's son called Aaron who is played by actor Brandon T Jackson.
A pilot for the series has been given the greenlight by CBS.
As with the Hollywood film, Foley Jr will take on criminals targeting the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.
Murphy, 51, is in dire need of a hit after his most recent Hollywood films flopped at the box office.
Apart from voicing the hugely successful Shrek movies, Murphy has not appeared in a hit film since 2006 when he was nominated for an Oscar for Dreamgirls.
His most recent effort A Thousand Words bombed at the box office making less than half of the $40m it cost to produce.
Murphy is acting as executive producer of the Beverly Hills Cop TV series which will be screened later this year."

I predict a flop for the simple reason its not the same Eddie....

The police comedy film series starring Eddie Murphy will soon return to the silver screen for a fourth movie, Deadline.com announced.
Thirty years after its debut, the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise will provide the basis for a fourth movie, this time taking the form of a reboot. Eddie Murphy will return to the legendary role of Axel Foley, a fearless cop who knows how to speak his mind. In the forthcoming reboot, the character will leave the California sun and return to his roots in Detroit.
Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount are producing this reboot, which will be directed by Brett Ratner. The director behind the "Rush Hour" franchise worked with Eddie Murphy on the set of "Tower Heist" in 2011. Ratner will follow in the footsteps of Martin Brest, Tony Scott and John Landis, who directed the first three "Bevery Hills Cop" movies in 1984, 1987 and 1994.
News that "Bevery Hills Cop" will return to cinema comes several months after CBS decided no to go ahead with plans for a series on the franchise. In the pilot for the series, which never got off the ground, Eddie Murphy made a cameo, which unexpectedly led to a new level of enthusiasm for the Axel Foley character."
