I hope there isn't already a Prince thread.
Okay, in the song "Facedown" Prince doesn't seem to be giving a "f**k you" to his label ... he actually seems to be talking to HIMSELF. Or, perhaps, the Prince that he has replaced? In the song he mentions "Sign the name they gave you". The song also constantly says "Dead like Elvis" ... meaning what? Alluding to the way Elvis died facedown in his bathroom, or suggesting that Elvis isn't dead?
Prince even attends his own funeral.
Also, the band in the video is The NPG .... they say it stands for "New Power Generation", but i've heard that NPG REALLY stands for "Not Prince's Group" ... meaning this is the replacement Prince's assembled group. |

 Hmmmm, the years of someone's birth and death, as if dead, in this case him. Officially that was the time when he changed his record company and name, thus metaphorically meaning his artistic rebirth, but unofficially be sure it was about another clone/replacement's turn to take over. |
