A woman who helped pioneer the punk music scene, influenced the careers of Madonna and the Ramones and went on to become known as a real estate agent to the stars was found bludgeoned to death Tuesday night in her apartment at 965 Fifth Avenue, the police said yesterday.

The victim, Linda S. Stein, 62, was found shortly before 10:30 p.m. by her daughter Mandy and a friend, who called 911. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The building, at the corner of 78th Street, has the security of doormen, elevator operators, and surveillance cameras mounted on the sidewalk canopy and in the lobby, but a reporter found an unlocked service door on the side street. There were no signs of forced entry at the apartment, nor did anything appear to be missing, investigators said.

Ms. Stein’s body was found face down in the living room in a pool of blood, the police said. She was wearing a sweatshirt with a hood, which was pulled over her head. Investigators at first believed the bleeding could have resulted from a fall, but when the hood was pulled back, a severe skull injury was exposed. Yesterday, the medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide.

4. there is a movie right now on HBO or Showtime that is dedicated to Johnny Ramone
it is kind of a MKULTRA type film with Nicholas Cage ..and i watched it a couple days ago and was surprised to see it was dedicated to Johnny Ramone..so i looked him up..two days ago..so this is shocking to me..

sorry i can't think of the name of the film..

"A Manhattan personal assistant fatally bludgeoned her boss, the well-connected real-estate agent Linda Stein, in the woman’s opulent Fifth Avenue apartment because Ms. Stein "just kept yelling at her," a law enforcement official said today. The assistant was arrested this morning.

Officials said the assistant, Natavia Lowery, 26, of Brooklyn, made statements implicating herself in the Oct. 30 killing of Ms. Stein after detectives interviewed her and re-interviewed her in recent days. Criminal charges from the Manhattan district attorney’s office are pending. Ms. Lowery was being held at the Seventh Precinct on the Lower East Side.

According to the woman’s account, her tempestuous relationship with Ms. Stein — a punk-rock pioneer and real estate agent who worked with numerous celebrities — built from animosity to violence, the official said.

"It was that Linda just kept yelling at her, over everything" the official said. "They fought. It was like a continuous thing, like a buildup."

That's awful. I had heard of her death, but I wasn't aware that there was a crime involved 'til now.

The supposed perpetrator, Natavia Lowery, was arraigned on Nov. 15. There have been very few or no reports since then about the case. Suspiciously, bizarrely little in the media about this horrible show business/celebrity rock music murder, as if a media cover-up is in place. Linda Stein was a manager and friend of the RAMones and David Bowie/imposter Fowie.

The personal assistant to former Ramones manager Linda Stein has been convicted in a New York court of bludgeoning her boss to death.

Prosecutors said Natavia Lowery, 28, stole more than $30,000 (£19,500) from Stein, then clubbed her with a piece of exercise equipment to try and hide it.

Jurors spent less than a day reaching a second-degree murder verdict.

Stein was found dead at her Manhattan apartment on 30 October 2007 having died from blows to the head and neck.

Although Lowery's lawyers acknowledged she stole from Stein and at least one previous employer, they denied she killed her.

They argued in their closing statements that police plied their client into a false confession after 12 hours of questioning.

Lowery had initially denied any knowledge of the killing, blaming it on a masked stranger who told her not to report it.

She eventually gave a videotaped account of beating Stein to death after her employer badgered her about the pace of her work and blew cannabis smoke in her face.

Authorities later determined there was no cannabis in Stein's body when she died, and she suffered far more than the roughly six blows Lowery described.

Surveillance videotape also showed the personal assistant leaving Stein's building soon after the estimated time of the killing.

Stein managed The Ramones along with Danny Fields during the band's heyday.

The ex-wife of Sire Records head Seymour Stein, she went into property after parting company with the band in 1980.
