Mal Evans, RFK, and Charles Higbie

An anonymous comment on Taf's blog set me investigating the LAPD officer who shot Mal Evans.
His name is Charles Higbie, and as usual, things just don't add the freak up.
1. Higbie had a backgound in Marine Corp. Intelligence, and if you've been reading the Laurel Canyon series, this should raise your eyebrows right off the bat.
www.davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr93.html2. As early as 1968, Higbie was a HOMICIDE INVESTIGATOR, and he played a huge role in (stonewalling) the Sirhan Sirhan/RFK investigation.
"SUS members predominantly came from military backgrounds. Charles Higbiewho controlled a good portion of the investigation, had been in the Marine Corps for five years and in Intelligence in the Marine Corp. Reserve for eight more. Frank Patchett, the man who turned the Kennedy "head bullet" over to DeWayne Wolfer after it had taken a trip to Washington with an FBI man, had spent four years in the Navy, where his specialty was Cryptography. The Navy and Marines figured prominently in the background of a good many of the SUS investigators. The editor of the SUS Final Report, however, had spent eight years of active duty with the Air Force, as a Squadron Commander and Electronics Officer."
www.ctka.net/pr598-rfk.html3. On January 5, 1976, Higbie responded to a call for a "routine domestic quarrel" and shot Mal Evans 4 times. Conveniently, one week before Evans was scheduled to deliver his book of memoirs called Living The Beatles' Legend.
www.amazon.com/Mystical-One-Harrison-Breakup-Beatles/dp/1550711970So, we're expected to believe that Higbie, a freaking HOMICIDE DETECTIVE, who had enough clout to have played an important role in the RFK assassination case EIGHT years earlier, found himself answering domestic violence dispatches in 1976?
Really?
?

pretty hard to "waft", aim, and fire all at the same time, but, hey we weren't there.....
what did the witness say?
"Evans was shot and killed by police on 5 January 1976 in his rented duplex in Los Angeles, because police officers mistakenly believed that the air gun Evans was holding was a rifle. Evans was cremated on 7 January 1976 in Los Angeles, and his ashes were sent by post back to England but were misplaced and lost in the postal system."
maybe that's the source of the reoccurring postman, delivering the box of ghosts

In using myth, in manipulating the continuous parallel between contemporaneity and antiquity, Mr. Joyce is pursuing a method which others must pursue after him. . It is simply a way of controlling, of ordering, of giving a shape and a significance to the immense panorama of futility and anarchy which is contemporary history. . a step toward making the modern world possible for art." tse

Much better. Higbie certainly sounds like a war criminal to me.
Here's a link to the google book that isn't 1000 characters long --
