"Deftones Bassist Chi Cheng Passes Away at 42
Musician Chi Cheng, best known as the bassist for platinum-selling rock band Deftones, died on Saturday according to a statement from his family. No official cause of death has been announced. He was 42.
On the website OneLoveForChi.com, Cheng's mother wrote a letter to fans, explaining that Cheng had been taken to the emergency room early Saturday morning. "At 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped," she said. "He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear."
Cheng had been in a state of semi-consciousness at the time of his death, due to serious injuries sustained as a result of a 2008 car accident. He was initially left comatose after the crash, but had been slowly improving in recovery, regaining some physical function and attempting to communicate. The site OneLoveForChi.com had been established to inform fans of his progress, as well as help with his considerable medical expenses.
"I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you," Cheng's mother noted. "He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone."
She urged fans for prayers, especially for Cheng's son Gabriel.
Cheng's band has not made a formal statement yet, although Deftones frontman Chino Moreno posted "Rest in peace" on his Facebook page.
In addition to his work with Deftones--which included the band's first five albums--Cheng released a spoken-word album of original poetry, The Bamboo Parachute, in 2000."

"Dick Van D.y.k.e. Cancels Appearance Due to Undiagnosed Neurological Disorder
Funnyman Dick Van D.y.k.e. isn't laughing right now.
The 87-year-old actor, best known for his own "Dick Van D.y.k.e. Show" in the '60s, the crime drama "Diagnosis Murder" in the '90s, and movies such as "Mary Poppins" and "Night at the Museum," has canceled an appearance in New York next week because of fatigue and other symptoms caused by a "yet-to-be diagnosed neurological disorder," his rep told "Entertainment Tonight." Based on the advice of his doctor, Van D.y.k.e. will not be able to travel from his home in Malibu, California, to the 92nd Street Y in New York, where he will be honored with the organization's first Lifetime Achievement Award for Bettering Humanity Through Comedy.
Van D.y.k.e., an avid Twitter user, has described some of his symptoms to his followers, who suggested that the star could be dealing with an issue in the sinuses or inner ear.
Van D.y.k.e.'s rep, Bob Palmer, told USA Today that "various medications have not diminished the symptoms." He added that the actor is "otherwise in good physical condition" and exercises regularly."

"Pink Floyd Album Designer Storm Thorgerson Dies at 69
The designer, who was best known for his work with the English rock band, lost his long battle with cancer on Thursday.
Storm Thorgerson, best known for the design of iconic Pink Floyd albums including Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, died Thursday after a lengthy illness, the band announced. He was 69.
Pink Floyd’s official site released a statement saying, "We are saddened by the news that longtime Pink Floyd graphic genius, friend and collaborator, Storm Thorgerson, has died. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends."
Guitarist David Gilmour said in a separate statement, "The artworks that he created for Pink Floyd from 1968 to the present day have been an inseparable part of our work."
Thorgerson began his career in the late 1960s with U.K. design group Hipgnosis. His style made him an instant standout. Throughout the 1970s, he worked with Pink Floyd, designing two of their albums, as well as working with Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse. Aside from designing, he also produced a range of videos during the late '80s and early '90s.
In an interview with BBC in 2010, he said: “People pay me for my thoughts and my dream. I think in that sense I'm very fortunate."
His family released a statement saying, "He had been ill for some time with cancer, though he had made a remarkable recovery from his stroke in 2003. He is survived by his mother, Vanji, his son Bill, his wife, Barbie Antonis, and her two children Adam and Georgia."
The bond between Floyd and Thorgerson ran deep, and in his remarks, Gilmour spoke lovingly of his longtime friend, whom he'd known since their teen years.
"We would gather at Sheep's Green, a spot by the river in Cambridge, and Storm would always be there holding forth, making the most noise, bursting with ideas and enthusiasm. Nothing has ever really changed. He has been a constant force in my life, both at work and in private, a shoulder to cry on and a great friend. I will miss him."
Thorgerson designed both of the albums below: Dark Side of the Moon (1973) & Wish You Were Here (1975)."

"Olivia Newton-John's Sister Has Brain Cancer, Singer Delays Vegas Shows
Olivia Newton-John is putting family first. The Australian singer and actress, 64, has postponed a Las Vegas concert series in order to support older sister Rona Newton-John, who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.
Sharing "the very sad news" with Entertainment Tonight, the Grease star explained, "I have decided to postpone my forthcoming Las Vegas residency to spend time with her and our family." Olivia herself battled (and defeated) breast cancer 20 years ago, and adds: "As a cancer 'thriver' myself, as many people are, I am very aware of the importance of love, support and family during this journey she is about to begin."
The "Physical" singer had been preparing to perform multiple shows at the Flamingo Casino during Donny and Marie Osmond's break. "I want to thank everyone in advance for respecting our privacy during this difficult time," adds the star, who is expected to reschedule her Vegas dates at a later time.
Like her sister, Rona Newton-John is also an actress, and was married to her sister's late Grease costar Jeff Conaway from 1980 to 1985. She and Conaway shared son, race-car driver Emerson."
Looks like cancer runs in this family too.... FOLIVIA allegedly had breast cancer, now her sister got a brain one.... Unless this "cancer" hides smth else, even worse than the disease itself

"Rapper Trina’s 19-Year-Old Brother Shot And Killed In Broad Daylight
Miami-Dade Police said Tuesday night they have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of the brother of the famous female rapper Trina in northwest Miami Tuesday morning.
Ron Dobson faces a second-degree murder charge, police said in an arrest affidavit. It wasn’t immediately known whether he has an attorney.
Residents said that the rapper’s brother Wilbrent Bain, who goes by the nickname “Gonk,”and the man who shot him were friends and lived around the corner from each other, neighbors told NBC 6.
The incident happened at about 9:35 a.m., according to police.
The two men had a dispute, and the victim began to get off his bicycle when Dobson took a firearm from his waistband and shot him multiple times, the affidavit said.
After he was read his Miranda rights, Dobson confessed to his involvement in the victim’s death, the affidavit said.
Bain lived his entire life in northwest Miami, where he is well known.
“He’s a very good kid,” family friend the Rev. Gary Johnson said of Bain. “It’s unfortunate. It’s a terrible tragedy.”
Mutual friends said they think an ongoing fight between Bain and the man who shot him got out of hand Tuesday."

"Clint Eastwood's reality star wife Dina checks into rehab with 'anxiety and depression'
Clint Eastwood's reality star wife Dina has checked into rehab for problems with 'depression and anxiety' - it has been reported.
The Mrs Eastwood & Company reality star was admitted into an exclusive facility located in Arizona, according to sources close to the family.
Dina, who has been married to the Hollywood legend since 1996, is thought to be in an ongoing feud with the film star and director and has not been pictured with Clint since 2011.
According to TMZ, the 47-year-old is not being treated for substance abuse problems.
Other than seeking treatment for stress related issues nothing else is known about her condition.
The television personality has been married to Clint since 1996.
But the pair are rumoured to be engaged in an ongoing feud.
Clint, 82, has not been pictured with his wife in public since 2011 and the two were seen embroiled in an argument at his daughter Alisons’s wedding in March.
The couple also have a daughter together, 16-year-old Morgan, who is featured in Dina’s reality show.
Former news anchor Dina invited the cameras into the family's California home last year with her own reality TV show, Mrs. Eastwood & Company, about her life with her two daughters, Francesca and Morgan.
Clint was last seen with his 19-year-old daughter Francesca at Coachella two weeks ago.
Eastwood said at the time of the wedding: 'She's the one I've been waiting for.'
Her predecessor in Eastwood's affections, actress Frances Fisher, found out about the Ruiz affair only via the gossip columns.
Eastwood had apparently told his partner of five years that he wanted to go on a boys-only golfing weekend. In fact, he was meeting up with Miss Ruiz.
Miss Fisher, who played the mother of Kate Winslet's character in Titanic, learned of the affair only when she saw a photograph of the two kissing.
The other main loves in the movie star's life have included model Maggie Johnson, who he was married to for 31 years.
He was initially against having children but after a delay of 15 years the couple had two - Kyle and Alison."

"Report: Catherine Zeta-Jones Checks in to Treatment for Bipolar Disorder
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has sought help again for bipolar disorder, in what her publicist called a "pro-active" move to take care of her health.
It's the second-known trip to a healthcare facility for the British actress since 2011, when news first broke that she suffers from bipolar II disorder - a milder form of the illness that is marked by sharp mood swings and erratic behavior.
"Catherine has pro-actively checked into a healthcare facility," publicist Cece Yorke said on Monday. "Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner."
Zeta-Jones, 43, who won an Oscar for her role in the 2002 musical "Chicago," underwent treatment in 2011 for what aides said was the stress of coping with the advanced throat cancer diagnosis and treatment of her husband, actor Michael Douglas.
No specific reason was given this time for her decision to seek help.
Bipolar II is a milder form of the disorder and is marked by less manic "up" moods but more depressive episodes, according to medical experts. It can be treated with medication or therapy.
Zeta-Jones was last seen on screen in February in the crime thriller "Side Effects," which received warm critical acclaim.

"The Voice judge Will.i.am tells of his battle with ADHD
Sufferers struggle to live an ordinary life and battle to concentrate on everyday tasks
It takes guts for a celebrity to open up and talk about their private torment.
So big respect to The Voice judge Will.i.am who reveals he battles with the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Sufferers struggle to live an ordinary life and battle to concentrate on everyday tasks.
The Black Eyed Peas singer, 38, says: “I have ADHD. I’ll admit it.
“Did you hear about the elephant that got into that fight with a gorilla? Sorry, that’s my ADHD kicking in.
“I’ve got all this stuff in my head at the same time as I’m doing stuff and I don’t know how to stop or slow down. But it’s all good because I know how to control it.”
The American music producer has revealed how music, not anti-hyperactivity drug Ritalin, is his cure for the condition.
He says: “For every obstacle there’s some type of solution. So if you have ADHD it’s your passion point.
“One thing I learned about ADHD is that it’s hard to keep your attention and you can’t sit still and you’re always moving and thinking about a whole bunch of things.
“But those traits work well for me in studios and in meetings about creative ideas.
“I’ve figured out a place for it. If you listen to the songs I write, they are the most ADHD songs ever. They have five hooks in one and it all happens in three minutes. I figured out a way of working with it.”
And Will, whose new album #willpower is out now, also manages to avoid feeling down through his love of music.
He added: “If I was stuck at a different job I’d be horrible and wouldn’t survive.
“Music is my therapy and my straitjacket. Music keeps me sane and keeps my mind on something. It’s fragile up there.
“My mind would wander, and if it wanders then that’s not good because I could scare myself thinking of weirdo stuff.
“Music brings control to my thoughts. It’s not escape – it’s just order. I’m making order out of a disorder.” "

"TLC Announces Comeback Concert and "Left Eye" Hologram
Nearly four years since their last show, the girls from TLC announced their return to the stage earlier this morning (April 30).
The "Waterfalls" hitmakers will perform at the 2013 Mixtape Festival at Hersey Park Stadium in Pennsylvania on July 26 and 27. In addition, a hologram of the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes will join the girls during their anticipated set list.
"The hologram is something we talked about and thought about years ago," Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas explained. "Obviously timing is everything but we're definitely talking about it."
In 2012 the band spoke about Lisa, who was killed in a 2002 car wreck.
"It will be hard on us but I certainly think our fans would love to see it. We would definitely be the first group to do it," Miss Thomas said. "It's great but spooky at the same time but we're definitely thinking about it."
Other 90's bands including New Kids On The Block and Boyz II Men will join TLC in the park's lineup."

"Chris Kelly, from '90s rap duo Kriss Kross, dead at 34
Chris Kelly of the '90s rap duo Kriss Kross has died, confirms the Associated Press. He was 34. Kelly, pictured on the left, was reportedly found unresponsive in his Atlanta home on Wednesday. The cause of death has yet to be determined, and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Kriss Kross was best known for the infectious hit "Jump" from their 1992 debut album, "Totally Krossed Out," and their trademark backwards clothes. The duo consisted of Kelly, known as Mac Daddy, and Chris Smith, called Daddy Mac. They were discovered at an Atlanta mall by producer Jermaine Dupri, and were just 13 when "Totally Krossed Out" exploded onto the charts. Soon, they were touring with Michael Jackson and starring in their own video game. Unfortunately, the group's next two studio albums failed to match the multiplatinum success of their debut, although they had additional hits with songs such as "Warm It Up," "Alright" and "Tonite's tha Night." Kelly and Smith reunited in February for a 20th anniversary concert celebrating Dupri's So So Def Recordings. Below is a recent photo of Kelly, which So So Def shared Wednesday night on Instagram, along with Kriss Kross' "Jump" video and their reunion performance ..."

It's been nearly 17 years since Tupac Shakur's tragic death, and now, someone from his closest camp has also passed.
Frank Alexander (known as "Big Frank"), the former bodyguard of the late rapper, was found dead in his Murrieta, Calif., home Sunday night after police responded to a 911 call regarding a possible suicide, according to a report by Murrieta Patch.
The cause of death has not been released. Alexander was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to the head.
