"Britney Spears 'Medical Issue' Is Behind Conservatorship
There's a reason Britney Spears' conservatorship has lasted 4 1/2 years with no end in sight -- it's because she has a serious medical issue that prevents her from making consistently sound decisions ... TMZ has learned.
Documents were filed Tuesday in the conservatorship case, urgently asking the judge to seal certain records. In the papers, lawyers for the conservators called the records "highly sensitive," adding "irreparable harm and immediate danger" would befall Britney if the documents weren't sealed.
Multiple sources with firsthand knowledge tell TMZ ... the records are medical documents outlining Britney's condition and treatment.
We're told the singer has a disorder affecting her personality that can affect her state of mind. We're told she is doing "extremely well" but needs the safety net of a conservatorship.
Sources tell us there is no plan to end the conservatorship, and the judge is completely down with it.
FYI ... there are 2 components of the conservatorship -- the personal and the business. The personal conservatorship allows Jamie Spears and Jason Trawick to make life decisions for her. The business conservatorship involves managing Britney's career and fortune. As for the business side, we're told it will probably go on indefinitely because it has been incredibly successful."

"Shia LaBeouf drops acid for movie role
Shia LaBeouf is such a serious actor! The "Transformers" star is willing to go to extremes for his craft, including dropping acid. In a new USA Today profile , LaBeouf reveals he set aside a day for a real acid trip to play scenes where his character in "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman," which will debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, is on acid. "There's a way to do an acid trip like 'Harold & Kumar,' and there's a way to be on acid," LaBeouf says. "What I know of acting, Sean Penn actually strapped up to that (electric) chair in 'Dead Man Walking.' These are the guys that I look up to."
LaBeouf also hit the bottle pretty hard to play a hard-boozing bootlegger in the Prohibition-era crime drama "Lawless," which hits theaters Wednesday. He drank real moonshine, even though he gave up alcohol years ago after he was involved in a bar fight and a car wreck. "My drinking on this movie was as undestructive as I could possibly make it, if that makes sense,†he tells the New York Post. "I did it for the movie. I didn't drink off set for no reason. I did it because, when I showed up on set the next day, my eyes looked like this and my face … had that drunk bloat that I needed, that I couldn’t have if that wasn't going on." He adds that, "Moonshine is different than liquor. Moonshine is closer to heroin."
Um, OK. LaBeouf's next movie isn't about a drug addict or a drunk. It's called "The Nymphomaniac." And the 2013 Lars von Trier film sounds perfect for the 26-year-old because it reportedly requires actors willing to engage in real sex. Not surprisingly, LaBeouf says he will sacrifice himself for his work."
In the name of art, yeah, sure.... In the name of art we are free to burn ur brains....

"Another death in the family for Sylvester Stallone
Sylvester Stallone has suffered the loss of another loved one.
Six weeks after his 36-year-old son, Sage, died unexpectedly, the actor has lost his only sister. Toni Ann Filiti, the 48-year-old half-sister of “The Expendables 2†star, succumbed to lung cancer on Sunday. She died at their mother Jackie Stallone’s Santa Monica home after choosing to leave UCLA hospital.
“I was holding her in my arms,†Jackie, 90, told the New York Daily News. “I had just washed [her] face and told her how pretty she looked, and she just fell asleep. … She’s too young to go, but she wasn’t feeling any pain.â€
Jackie, an astrologer and psychic, personally broke the news of Toni’s death to her famous son. “He said he can’t take any more pain,†she told the newspaper. “He said he’ll always be there for her son. ... What a terrible month – first Sage and now Toni. It’s hard. At least they’re together now in heaven.â€
On July 13, the actor’s son Sage Moonblood Stallone was found dead in his Studio City, California, apartment. Authorities said there were no signs of foul play, but there were reportedly numerous pill bottles nearby. Sasha Czack, Sage’s mother and Sly’s first wife, said Sage was in pain after dental surgery. A toxicology report is pending.
After Sage’s death, Sly took an extended family vacation, traveling to Europe with his third wife, Jennifer Flavin, and their three daughters. He later joined his “Expendables 2†cast mates, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Jason Statham to promote the action flick, which has been tops at the box office the past two weekends.
It's tough. It's very tough," the 66-year-old told "Good Morning America" about the loss of his son. "It's a horrible situation, but time hopefully will heal and you try to get through it. It's just something that's a reality of life."
Unfortunately, it’s a reality he’s experienced a lot lately."

Not the real MATTHEW anymore as pointed out on the forum some time ago. He's part of Hollyweird, so MK comes as a normal thing.... Abused/MK-ed for a movie role, of course....

"LeAnn Rimes Seeks "Stress & Anxiety" Treatment
Placing a priority on her physical and mental well-being, LeAnn Rimes has decided to seek professional help at an undisclosed health facility.
The now 30-year-old country singer is said to be addressing anxiety and stress related issues, as her rep, Marcel Pariseau, told People magazine, "LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30-day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress. While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
Pariseau added that Miss Rimes will continue to perform in September, explaining, "The facility has granted her permission to keep her weekend tour obligations, as LeAnn doesn't want to disappoint her fans. She will report back after each weekend."
Meanwhile, LeAnn, herself, commented to People about her personal medical decision, revealing, "This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be. All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I'm hoping they're not going to affect me as much. I'll have the tools to know how to deal with them."
Offering his full support to his "Can't Fight the Moonlight" crooner bride is actor Eddie Cibrian, who said, "My wife is the most remarkable and courageous woman I know. I am so proud of her for having the strength to finally take some time for herself. I will be with her every step of the way."

"Chris Lighty Dead: Hip-Hop Manager Behind 50 Cent, Diddy And Mariah Carey Dies Of Apparent Suicide
Chris Lighty, a mogul in the hip-hop world who managed the likes of 50 Cent, Diddy, Mariah Carey and Ja Rule, died on Thursday of an apparent suicide.
The New York Daily News reports that 44-year-old Lighty died Thursday morning after allegedly shooting himself in the head in his Bronx, N.Y., apartment. A gun was found next to his body.
Law enforcement officials said the hip-hop manager, who divorced his wife last year, was dealing with financial issues, according to the NY Daily News. He reportedly owed the IRS $5 million.
He first broke into the music business at Rush Artist Management, Russell Simmons' company and sister outfit to Def Jam Recordings, reported NJ.com. Lighty worked with Simmons in 1989 and left the following year to start his own company.
Lighty, raised in the Bronx, became an industry heavyweight after founding Violator Entertainment, the management firm, record label and marketing company that handled artists Mariah Carey, Soulja Boy, L.L. Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and others, according to BET.
His Violator merged with Larry Mestel's Primary Wave Talent Management last September, according to Billboard. At the time of his death, Lighty was the chief operating officer of Primary Violator.
Simmons released a statement about Lighty's passing via his website GlobalGrind:
I am deeply saddened by the loss of a hip-hop hero. Chris Lighty has been a dear friend of mine since he was a kid. Was a brilliant partner in business and I was so proud of all that he had accomplished. He is an amazing example of how a passionate kid from the street can go to the most even-keeled, smart, thoughtful manager in the business and a generous philanthropist. He was loved by everyone who knew him, including me. He will be missed greatly by all of us."
NEW YORK (AP) — Chris Lighty, a hip-hop mogul who helped the likes of Sean "Diddy" Combs, 50 Cent and Mariah Carey attain not only hit records, but also lucrative careers outside music, was found dead in his New York City apartment Thursday in an apparent suicide. He was 44.
He was found at his home in the Bronx with a gunshot to the head and was pronounced dead there, police said. No note was recovered, but a 9 mm handgun was found and there was no sign of forced entry, said Paul Browne, New York police spokesman. The shooting appears to be self-inflicted, authorities said.
Lighty had been a part of the scene for decades, working with pioneers like LL Cool J before starting his own management company, Violator. But he was in the midst of a divorce and had been having recent financial and personal troubles.
Twitter was abuzz with condolences just hours after the body was found around 11:30 a.m.
"R.I.P. Chris Lighty," Fat Joe posted on his account. "The man that saved my life!" Diddy wrote: "In shock." Rihanna posted: "Rest peacefully Chris Lighty, my prayers go out to family and loved ones! Dear God please have mercy." And Mary J. Blige wrote: "U never know what can send a person over the edge or make them want 2 keep living. take it easy on people."
50 Cent said in a statement issued through his publicist that he was deeply saddened by the loss.
"Chris has been an important part of my business and personal growth for a decade," he said. "He was a good friend and advisor who helped me develop as an artist and businessman. My prayers are with his family. He will be greatly missed."
Lighty was raised by his mother in the Bronx as one of six children. He ran with a group called The Violators, the inspiration for the name of his management company, according to the company website. He was a player in the hip-hop game since he was a kid DJ. He rose through the ranks at Rush Management — mogul Russell Simmons' first company — before eventually founding Violator Management in the late 1990s.
"Today, we lost a hip-hop hero and one of its greatest architects," Simmons tweeted.
Lighty's roster ranged from Academy Award-winners Three 6 Mafia to maverick Missy Elliott to up-and-comer Papoose and perpetual star Carey. He made it his mission not so much to make musical superstars, but rather multifaceted entertainers who could be marketed in an array of ways: a sneaker deal here, a soft drink partnership there, a movie role down the road.
In a 2007 interview with The Associated Press, Lighty talked about creating opportunities for his stars — a Chapstick deal for LL Cool J, known for licking his lips, and a vitamin supplement deal for 50 Cent.
"As music sales go down because kids are stealing it off the Internet and trading it and iPod sales continue to rise, you can't rely on just the income that you would make off of being an artist," he said at the time.
Survivors include his two children. He and his wife, Veronica, had been in the process of divorcing. The case was still listed as active, but electronic records show an agreement to end it was filed in June.
He was also having financial trouble. City National Bank sued Lighty, whose given name is Darrell, in April, saying he had overdrawn his account by $53,584 and then refused to pay the balance. The case was still pending.
He also owed more than $330,000 in state and federal taxes, according to legal filings. His tax problems were much steeper a year ago, but he cleared away millions of dollars in earlier IRS liens last October, after selling his Manhattan apartment for $5.6 million.
Larry Mestel, the CEO of Primary Wave Music, the entertainment company that created the joint venture Primary Violator management last fall with Violator Management, said: "We are extremely shocked and sadden by this tragic news. Chris was a friend, business partner and most of all, an icon, role model and true legend of the music and entertainment industry. He will be missed by many and we send love and support to his family."

"NBC's Tom Brokaw hospitalized after TV appearance
NEW YORK (AP) — NBC News special correspondent Tom Brokaw was taken to a Charlotte, N.C., hospital Thursday morning after appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
The network says Brokaw felt "light-headed" on the set of the news-talk program, which has been originating this week from Charlotte. "Out of an abundance of caution," he was taken to a Charlotte-area hospital, which was not identified. NBC said he was being evaluated and "is in good spirits."
The 72-year-old Brokaw has been keeping a busy schedule of on-air appearances at the Republican National Convention last week and, this week, at the Democratic Convention.
He has served as special correspondent for NBC News since stepping down as anchor of "Nightly News" in 2004."
