"Ryan Gosling Dead? Not So Fast
Ryan Gosling has pulled off yet another amazing feat: being in two places at one time … because he reportedly died in Austria on Tuesday, even though he's in Los Angeles today. The "Drive" actor is the latest victim of the celebrity death hoax, which has also claimed the lives of Usher, Justin Bieber, and Luke Perry. According to the Global Associated News, Gosling fell 50 feet to his death at 4:30 a.m. in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm Mountains, where the publication claims he had been filming a movie.
Those are very specific details — but hardly the truth. In fact, the 31-year-old actor's next movie, "Lawless," in which he stars opposite Rooney Mara and Christian Bale, will be filmed in Austin, Texas … far from the Austrian Alps. And on Sunday, Gosling — who also fronts the band Dead Man's Bones — was photographed arriving at LAX Airport, presumably arriving from New York City, where he's been hanging out after wrapping "Only God Forgives" in Thailand — oh, and rescuing women from getting struck by out-of-control taxis, of course.
Last week, Usher fell victim to Global Associated News. In that article, the R&B singer flipped his car while speeding down a highway in Georgia. According to the site's "sources," Usher's injuries were so gruesome, his family was opting for a closed-casket funeral. But no sooner did the report hit the Internet, he posted a shirtless photo of himself on Twitter to prove he was still alive and well.
Now, if only Gosling would do the same...."

"Bollywood actress kidnapped, beheaded by costars
A young Bollywood actress, Meenakshi Thapar, was allegedly kidnapped and later beheaded by two actors in an attempt to extort 1,500,000 Rupees.
Thapar, 26, appeared in the Indian horror film “404″ where she met two aspiring actors who reportedly killed her on the set of her new movie “Heroine,” The Telegraph reports.
“Amit Jaiswal, 36, and his lover Preeti Surin, allegedly decided to kidnap Ms. Thapar after listening to her boast about her family’s wealth and status in Dehra Dun, in the Himalayan foothills of northern India.”
The Telegraph states that the two actors invited her on a trip with them to Gorakhpur — a small town close to India’s border with Nepal — where they held her hostage and demanded 1,500,000 Rupees from Thapar’s parents.
Although her mother paid 60,000 Rupees, Thapar was killed shortly after.
“She was strangled to death, beheaded, and her body was dumped at two different sites as her killers made their way back to Mumbai. Her torso was dumped in a water tank and her head thrown out of the bus window in a bag on the road to Mumbai,” The Telegraph writes.
Jaiswal and Surin were caught and reportedly confessed to the murder."
The official version of the story seems ridiculous to me. Its more to it, definitely. Ritual sacrifice anyone?

"Men at Work musician Greg Ham found dead
SYDNEY (AP) — Greg Ham, a member of the Australian band Men at Work whose saxophone and flute punctuated its smash 1980s hits, was found dead in his Melbourne home on Thursday.
Police said the death did not appear to be suspicious, though the cause was not immediately known. A friend who found Ham's body said he hadn't been the same since 2010, when a court ruled that his signature flute riff from the song "Down Under" had been stolen from a classic campfire song.
Victoria state police confirmed that the deceased was the 58-year-old resident of Ham's house but did not identify him by name, in keeping with local practice. Ham was 58 and neighbors said he was the lone occupant of the house.
Men at Work topped charts around the world in 1983 with the songs "Down Under" and "Who Can it Be Now?" and won a Grammy Award that year for Best New Artist.
Frontman Colin Hay issued a statement expressing deep love for Ham, whom he met in 1972 when they were seniors in high school. Hay recalled decades of shared experiences with Ham — from appearing on "Saturday Night Live," to flying through dust storms over the Grand Canyon, to getting lost in the rural Australian countryside.
"We played in a band and conquered the world together," Hay said. "I love him very much. He's a beautiful man. ... He's here forever."
Two concerned friends who had not heard from Ham in some time found his body after going to check on him, police said.
Local pharmacist David Nolte, who had known Ham for 30 years, told The Associated Press on Friday that he and another friend found his body. He said the musician's cats were outside the house and appeared unfed, and all calls had gone to Ham's voicemail for days.
After banging on the door and calling for Ham in vain, they entered his house and found his body. Nolte checked for a pulse; there was none. He declined to elaborate on the condition of Ham's body, citing privacy reasons and the pending police investigation.
"Even though he was famous, he was a very decent, kind, humble person," Nolte said. "I'd like to remember him being a really first-rate man."
Police Detective John Potter said there was "nothing to suggest to us that it's a suspicious investigation. However, we will wait and make that assessment once we know a cause of death."
"We'll get an indication fairly quickly, but certain tests do take weeks," he said.
Ham was perhaps best known for playing the flute riff for "Down Under," which remains an unofficial anthem for Australia. But the beloved tune came under intense scrutiny in recent years after the band was accused of stealing the catchy riff from the children's campfire song "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree."
The publisher of "Kookaburra" sued Men at Work, and in 2010 a judge ruled the band had copied the melody. The group was ordered to hand over a portion of its royalties, and lost its last appeal in October.
Ham later said the controversy had left him devastated, and he worried it would tarnish his legacy.
"It has destroyed so much of my song," he told Melbourne's The Age newspaper after the court ruling. "It will be the way the song is remembered, and I hate that. I'm terribly disappointed that that's the way I'm going to be remembered — for copying something."
Nolte said he did not want to speculate on Ham's mental state in his final days, but said his friend had been shattered by the court battle.
"That really did affect him ... he was sad," Nolte said. "He put on a brave face, but he wasn't the same Greg Ham."
Ham played the saxophone on "Who Can It Be Now?" — Hay noted that his rehearsal take was the one that made it on the record. He also played keyboards. More recently he worked as a guitar teacher.
Australian rock historian Glenn Baker, who was Australian editor of Billboard magazine when Men At Work was at its peak touring the world, recalled Ham as bursting with energy during the band's glory days.
"When they came back (from tour), it was generally Greg who I would interview because he'd tell the best stories and he was effervescent, energetic, good fun, good-humored and good-natured," Baker said. "He was having a great time."

Just reminds me of certain celebs "death"...there are many, many times that they show a series of celebs who have passed during a particular year, and I think to myself, "I thought they died before..." It's really odd, esp old and obscure people who are not in the current mindset of the masses....they fade out....and they tell us these people "die" and wait, didn't they die before? I think there is quite a bit of these mind games....or these stories of someone dying when they didn't.... Really strange

SINEAD at it again:
"Sinead O'Connor pulls out of 2012 tour due to 'bipolar disorder'
She had a very public struggle with her mental health towards the end of last year as she wrote disturbing ‘suicide’ comments on Twitter, which were followed by another cry for help on the social networking site in January.
And now Sinead O’Connor has been forced to pull out of her 2012 tour, the star announced on her website today.
The Wolf is Getting Married hitmaker – who has suffered a series of public breakdowns and relationship issues with husband Barry Herridge in recent months – has claimed it is with ‘regret’ she is ending the tour but is doing so because of ‘bipolar disorder’.
She wrote: ‘With enormous regret I must announce that I have to cancel all touring for the year as am very unwell due to bipolar disorder.
‘As you all know I had a very serious breakdown between December and March and I had been advised by my doctor not to go on tour but didn't want to 'fail' or let anyone down as the tour was already booked to coincide with album release.’
The 45-year-old star released her latest album How About I Be Me (And You Be You) in February, which was met with praise from critics.
She added in her website announcement today: ‘So very stupidly I ignored his advice to my great detriment, attempting to be stronger than I actually am.
‘I apologise sincerely for any difficulties this may cause. While touring will be cancelled I do hope and plan to appear at the Curtis Mayfield tribute in The Lincoln Centre in July.’
Sinead checked into a hospital for depression in January, claiming she was regularly ‘misdiagnosed’ with bipolar disorder.
The Nothing Compares To You singer’s most recent performance was at Le Trianon in Paris, France, on April 15.
The mother-of-four married Barry Herridge in Las Vegas on December 8 after dating for just four months.
The pair split shortly afterwards before reuniting."

One more down, how many left to go?
"Tommy Marth Dead: Saxophonist Who Played With the Killers Dies at 33
Tommy Marth, touring saxophonist for the Killers has died. The band sent out a tweet last night, confirming that their friend and fellow road warrior had passed away.
"Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. Our prayers are with his family. There's a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy."
Marth, a Las Vegas native, featured on the Killers' sophomore record Sam's Town and 2008's Day and Age, delivering carefully constructed sax lines for the hit albums.
He also performed regularly with Las Vegas band the Big Friendly Corporation. Early this morning, the group's Timothy Styles spoke about Marth's death on his weekly podcast.
"There's been a death in the family. A very tragic one. Essentially what has happened is Ryan Marth and Melissa Marth of the Big Friendly, their middle sibling Tommy, passed away this morning at rather a young age. I'm not going to go into details. People who know him will hear the truth about it later on. But it's not natural causes."
According to Las Vegas Weekly, no cause of death has been reported for the 33-year-old. Marth is survived by his parents and his aforementioned siblings."

Regarding Sinead....I'm thinking this particular "celeb" was a mind control victim. If memory serves me correctly, she ripped a picture of Pope John Paul II while on SNL...and it caused what a stir....and I recall her telling of the abuse of the Catholic Church and such....
Maybe there was some mind control, sexual abuse, programming to "short circuit" publically, and using these "disorders" to brush off her erratic behavior. It was like she was programmed to "short circuit" from almost the get go.

"Natalie Wood’s Daughter Courtney Wagner Arrested for Cocaine and Heroin Possession
Courtney Wagner, the only daughter of the late Natalie Wood and actor Robert Wagner, has been arrested for cocaine and heroin possession after police responded to a domestic dispute at her home that involved gunfire.
The 38-year-old former jewelry designer — who was just 7 years old when her famous mother drowned on a weekend trip to Catalina Island in California — was taken into custody last Sunday at her Malibu home when officers responded to a call that a woman at the residence was screaming and there was gunfire, reports TMZ. Courtney was arrested on suspicion of felony drug possession for reportedly having cocaine and heroin. The other person involved, an unidentified male, was also arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm.
She later posted $10,000 bail and was released.
Although her parents and stepmother, Jill St. John, all have ties to showbiz, Courtney opted not to follow in their acting footsteps. Instead, she created a high-end jewelry line called Wagner and Ko, with her childhood best friend Anita Ko. The line, which launched in 2001, developed a huge following with celebrities from Cameron Diaz to Gwyneth Paltrow before they shut down the business in 2006. Neither woman discussed why they dissolved the partnership, but Ko's bio on her website doesn't mention Courtney by name saying only that Ko "started Wagner & Ko with 'a friend.'" It's unclear what Courtney has been doing professionally since then.
As far as her love life, Courtney dated actor Stephen Dorff for several years and they appeared together on the cover of the May 1993 issue of Interview. She later had a relationship with Max LeRoy, whose family owned New York's iconic Tavern on the Green. They were said to have been engaged when LeRoy died in a 2005 motorcycle accident at the age of 30. Despite the fact she opted out of showbiz, her celebrity friends included Nicole Richie, who she has been photographed with at several events through the years.
Courtney's famous parents were married twice—first from 1957 to 1962 then again in 1972 after Wood's brief marriage to Richard Gregson ended. Courtney was born during their second shot at marriage, in 1974, and was still a young child when her mother drowned under mysterious circumstances in 1981 while aboard her boat with Wagner and her "Brainstorm" co-star Christopher Walken. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced last November than "new evidence" about Wood's death had prompted them to reopen the case. However, in January it was closed again after nothing materialized.
"I don't remember very much about my mother," Courtney, who also has two half sisters, said during an interview in 2004. "I do remember her laugh and the way she smelt, and I remember her hands — things like that that made me feel close to her."
In the same interview, she was asked if she had difficultly being the daughter of two such iconic figures. "A lot of people ask me if there's any pressure living up to the Wagner name, but I don't think so," she said. "The only pressure I would ever feel is, I would always want my family to be proud of me. I just want my dad to feel he raised a solid person to be compassionate and care about the things that he cared about."

Lame excuse!
" 'Glee' Star Amber Riley Collapses on Red Carpet
The actress who plays Mercedes Jones on “Glee” had a scary moment Tuesday night when she fainted and collapsed on the red carpet. She was being interviewed by reporters prior to an event at the TV Academy of Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood. While giving a sound bite, she suddenly dropped to the ground.
Shortly after being aided, Riley, 26, addressed the incident via Twitter, writing: “Hey guys, I'm okay. I got a little dizzy from all the photog flashes! You'd think [I’d] be used to it by now, still a red carpet amateur I guess. Gonna get checked out but I feel fine. Thank you for all the concern and well wishes.”
Later she added: “I'd also like to thank the photographers for being do professional and not taking photos of me on the ground. I truly truly appreciate it. Could have been super embarrassing.”
Riley and her “Glee” castmates were at the event to discuss their Fox series, which is just about to wrap its third season, in front of a group of Emmy voters. Riley was able to rally following her fainting spell and participated in the panel along with her costars Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith, Darren Criss and Chris Colfer."

Suicided, definitely:
"OCEANSIDE: Football great Junior Seau dead in suicide, sources say
Former pro football great and Oceanside sports legend Junior Seau has committed suicide, found at his beachfront home with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to multiple sources.
Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood said he learned of the death from Police Chief Frank McCoy.
Police responded to Seau's home on The Strand on Wednesday after receiving a call about a reported suicide. The San Diego County medical examiner's office said an investigator was sent to the scene.
Wood said Seau, 43, was beloved in the community and will be deeply missed.
"He was a local hero ---- he certainly gave back to the community and to the youth through his Junior Seau Foundation," Wood said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."
The San Diego Chargers released a statement saying they had not been informed of his death and that "we pray he's OK."
Named Tiana Baul "Junior" Seau when he was born in Jan. 19, 1969, Seau was drafted fifth overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 1990 draft.
He last played in the NFL as a member of the New England Patriots in 2009.
At Oceanside High School, he lettered in football, basketball, and track and field. He earned recognition as a league MVP and was named by Parade Magazine to its high school All-American Team.
After three years at the University of Southern California, he joined the NFL.
He was named to the Pro Bowl 12 times and made the league's list of All-Pro starts for 10 years.
In October 2010, problems in Seau's personal life surfaced following a bizarre automobile accident.
On Oct. 18 of that year, he drove his SUV off an embankment in Carlsbad and was hospitalized with minor injuries.
A philanthropic hero and a legend in his hometown, Seau told police he fell asleep hours after he was arrested on a felony domestic violence allegation and released.
Seau's white Cadillac Escalade veered off a straight stretch of the road about 8:40 a.m. near Carlsbad Boulevard and Solamar Drive and landed on the beach below.
Seau was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of minor injuries, which police described as mostly cuts and bruises.
Police said there were no signs of drugs or alcohol at the crash site and that Seau told investigators he didn't intend to drive off the cliff and that he was tired after being up all night.
The lack of skid marks leading up to the point where Seau's vehicle left the road supported that statement, according to police.
Hours before driving off the cliff, Seau was arrested after police were called to his home to investigate a report of domestic violence.
Seau wasn't home when police arrived, but his 25-year-old live-in girlfriend told officers that Seau assaulted her during an argument.
He was arrested and booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of spousal assault with injury. The case was later dropped.
Gina Seau, the former player's ex-wife and mother of three of his children, said at the time that Seau had never tried to hurt or threaten her when they were married.
He's been a familiar sight in Oceanside, often seen running on the beach or working out with high school football players near his $3.2 million, three-bedroom home on the city's tony Strand.
In 1991, Seau created the Seau Foundation, an organization that raises money for drug awareness and educational opportunities for San Diego County youths.
Seau's foundation has distributed more than $4 million over the last 10 years to various charities. Seau has said one of his goals through the organization is to help children in abusive situations and educate them on how to avoid drug use.
He was the CIF San Diego Section player of the year in boys basketball in 1987 and football defensive player of the year in 1986.
Seau was recently quoted in a North County Times column on the "bounty" scandal involving the New Orleans Saints and its practice of offering cash incentives to players who doled out vicious hits on their opponents.
"It's sad that it was written into an incentive package to go into a game that we all love and turn it into that,'' he said. "There is going to be a cloud over our game because of that. So there is a lot of pressure, obviously, on (NFL Commissioner Roger) Goodell and those in the NFL office to do something drastic, big, to send a message out there.
"This is a sport in which you inflict pain on your opponents, but it is not in the game to hurt them and have a bounty over a player. Then you have pushed it too far because you should never place a bounty on another human being.''
Reaction to the news was immediate.
An online commenter said "I can't stop weeping," said the commenter identified as MirCosta Momma. "He was loved and will be missed. My condolences to the family, Charger fans and all of San Diego and beyond. His thoughtful, kind and caring touch reached so many, especially here in Oceanside, I can't stop weeping."
Oceanside High football coach John Carroll called it tragic.
"He handed out rings when we won championships, talked with the kids," Carroll said. "It's just tragic. He was a phenomenal athlete who played the game the right way, with passion. This is a tragic event."
"I don't have to tell anyone what a loss this is for Oceanside and San Diego and New England and the entire football community who enjoyed the way he played the game."

"Junior Seau Dead - Cops Suspect Suicide
4:09 PM PDT -- Law enforcement tells us ... investigators discovered a revolver at the scene. It's unclear who the gun belongs to.
1:52 PM PDT -- The Oceanside PD tells us ... Seau's girlfriend was at the home this morning and saw Seau alive ... before she left to the gym at 7:45 AM.
We're told when she returned ... she claims she discovered Seau bleeding from his chest and immediately called 911.
NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead at his Oceanside, CA home this morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest -- law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Oceanside Police Chief Frank McCoy just spoke outside Seau's San Diego house, claiming Seau's body was initially discovered by Seau's girlfriend.
A 911 call was placed around 10AM this morning -- authorities responded to the scene, and found Seau's unconscious body inside a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Paramedics attempted to revive Seau, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on the scene. His body has just been removed from the house and is currently being transported to the Medical Examiner's office in a white van.
McCoy says investigators recovered a handgun in the bedroom -- and the case is currently being investigated as a suicide.
A law enforcement official tells TMZ ... no suicide note has been discovered at the scene.
Seau's mother also spoke briefly -- and she was hysterical, crying to God, "Take me. Leave my son alone!"
Seau was 43-years-old. He is survived by 4 children and an ex-wife.
We're told Seau sent text messages to his ex-wife and kids yesterday saying, "Love you." They all responded, but didn't suspect anything was wrong. We're told he last saw his kids 3 weeks ago.
Sources close to Seau tell us family members didn't notice any signs of depression in recent weeks.
The fact Seau chose to shoot himself in the chest seems like a premeditated decision -- considering several NFL players have recently killed themselves in a similar fashion in order to preserve their brains for research purposes ... in the wake of new studies which appear to connect football-related concussions to suicidal behavior.
Seau was a beast in the NFL -- skyrocketing to fame thanks to his explosive play with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. The USC standout was selected in the first round of the NFL draft in 1990 and played in the league for 20 years.
Seau was involved in a car accident back in 2010 when he drove his SUV off a cliff in Carlsbad, CA hours after he was arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend. Seau later said he was not trying to kill himself ... insisting he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
The San Diego Chargers released a statement, claiming, "Everyone at the Chargers is in complete shock and disbelief right now...We ask everyone to stop what they're doing and send their prayers to Junior and his family."
The New England Patriots also released a statement, claiming, "This is a sad day for the entire Patriots organization, our coaches and his many Patriots teammates. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his many friends who will mourn this loss.”
Seau is the 8th member of the 1994 San Diego Chargers team to die before the age of 45 ... joining linebacker David Griggs, running back Rodney Culver, linebacker Doug Miller, center Curtis Whitley, defensive end Chris Mims, defensive tackle Shawn Lee and linebacker Lew Bush."
IT STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN!!!!

RIP, even he was FADAM...
"Beastie Boy rapper MCA dies of cancer, aged 47
Adam Yauch, a co-founder of Grammy-winning hip-hop giants the Beastie Boys, died Friday after a three-year battle with cancer, the band's publicists said.
The 47-year-old, better known by his stage name MCA, died weeks after the pioneering white hip-hop act were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, although he was too ill to attend.
"It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam "MCA" Yauch .. passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer," said a statement.
The Beastie Boys sold over 40 million records and released four number one albums, including the first hip hop album ever to top the Billboard 200, the band's 1986 debut full length, "Licensed To Ill."
They won three Grammys: two in 1998 -- best rap performance and best alternative music performance -- and one in 2007, best pop instrumental album, for "The Mix Up," according to the Grammys website.
The three-member band canceled a tour in 2009 after Yauch announced he had been diagnosed with cancer in a salivary gland. They have not appeared live since the summer of that year, said Rolling Stone.
Tributes began pouring in even before his death was confirmed -- on Twitter it became the top trending discussion topic, under the hashtag #RIPMCA.
"Crushed to hear the news of Adam Yauch's passing. A true pioneer of art. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones," said actor-singer Justin Timberlake.
British Culture Club star and DJ Boy George said: "Such sad news about Beastie Boy Adam Yauch. A fellow Buddhist and part of hip hop history!! R.I.P!"
Born in Brooklyn, Yauch taught himself to play bass in high school, forming a band for his 17th birthday party that would later become known the world over as Beastie Boys.
The rapper launched the band, initially a hard-core punk outfit, in 1979 with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz, but they gradually moved towards hip hop, making it big with their 1986 album "Licensed to Ill."
Yauch was also involved in support for Tibet, and helped organize charity concerts for the cause in the 1990s. He recently became a vegan at the recommendation of his Tibetan doctors, TMZ reported.
He was also a founding member of film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories.
Yauch did not appear at a ceremony to induct the Beastie Boys into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, where Diamond and Horovitz read an acceptance speech on his behalf.
His treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, "Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2." The album has been expected to debut at number two on the Billboard chart, but his death could boost it into the top spot, CNN said.
Tributes continued to pour in after his publicists confirmed Yauch's death.
Def Jam Recordings, one of his labels, tweeted: "Man...that one hurts. Our prayers go out to Adam Yauch and his family. #MCA #BEASTIEBOYS Rest Well."
British pop hearthrobs Duran Duran said: ""Rest in Peace Adam Yauch. Our condolences to your friends and family," while indie star Moby added: "I'm very very sad to hear of adam yauch's passing.
"He was a wonderful, generous, remarkable, and inspiring man and friend."
Yauch is survived by his wife Dechen and his daughter Tenzin Losel, as well as his parents Frances and Noel Yauch."

Just as expected:
"Chaplain: Seau's brain to be donated for research
SAN DIEGO (AP) Junior Seau's brain will be donated by his family for research into football-related head injuries.
San Diego Chargers chaplain Shawn Mitchell said he didn't know where the brain will be sent.
''The Seau family really has, almost like Junior, a philanthropic approach, where they always desire to help others,'' Mitchell said in a phone interview Friday. ''The purpose is not initially to discover anything about their son and what led to these tragic circumstances, but rather the betterment of other people and athletes down the road through anything that can be learned through the study.''
He said the family was not speculating as to whether concussions were a factor in Seau's suicide.
Garrett Webster, the administrator and player liaison for the Brain Injury Research Institute, said his group has requested that the family donate the brain but hasn't heard back.
''I don't want this to sound too crass, but we've sort of made our pitch,'' said Webster, the son of the late Hall of Fame center Mike Webster of the Pittsburgh Steelers. ''We hope the family choses us, but the important thing is somebody's going to get it and it's going to get looked into. Junior Seau was a wonderful man and we're all aware of his work with charities. I wish it never happened. The important thing is, in some way, this will continue his legacy on giving back to the community and helping people.''
Officials at Boston University's Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy did not return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment Friday on whether researchers there had reached out to the Seau family. The Boston University center has analyzed the brains of dozens of former athletes, including that of former Chicago player Dave Duerson, who shot himself in the chest last year.
Duerson's family has filed a wrongful death suit against the NFL, claiming the league didn't do enough to prevent or treat concussions that severely damaged Duerson's brain before he died in in February 2011.
Another ex-player, former Atlanta Falcons safety Ray Easterling, who had joined in a concussion-related lawsuit against the league - one of dozens filed in the last year - shot himself last month at age 62. His wife has said he suffered from depression and dementia after taking years of hits.
Seau, a star at Southern California before playing for his hometown Chargers for 13 seasons, was found dead Wednesday at his Oceanside home. An autopsy concluded he shot himself in the chest.
There's been no medical evidence that brain injuries from football may have played a role in his death.
Seau's ex-wife, Gina, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he sustained concussions during his 20-year NFL career, during which he also played for Miami and New England.
Mitchell said he never heard Seau complain about dizziness or headaches.
''With Junior, that would be so outside of his nature because he had an amazing threshold for pain,'' Mitchell said.
Family members and friends have said they weren't aware of any issues that may have led to Seau's suicide. Police said no suicide note was found.
''This is not anything I thought he would ever do,'' former San Diego Chargers safety Miles McPherson said.
A few weeks ago, a smiling Seau was videotaped playing a ukulele and singing while attending the spring game at Southern California, where he starred before being drafted by the Chargers in 1990.
Mitchell said that friends of Seau's who were at his charity golf tournament a month ago said his ''spirits were great.''
