"Ex-'Saturday Night Live' writer Joe Bodolai dies
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles coroner's office says former "Saturday Night Live" writer Joseph Bodolai has committed suicide in a Hollywood hotel room.
Coroner's office spokesman Craig Harvey says room service staff found the body of the 63-year-old Bodolai at 1:30 p.m. Monday in a room at Hollywood's Re-Tan Hotel. He checked into the hotel on Dec. 19.
Harvey said Tuesday that Bodolai drank a mixture of Gatorade and antifreeze. The death has been ruled a suicide.
Besides writing on 20 episodes of "Saturday Night Live" in 1981 and 1982, Bodolai was the TV producer for 20 episodes of "The Kids in the Hall" Canadian sketch comedy troupe.
Police Cmdr. Andrew Smith says there was no suicide note."
But DAILY FAIL has a more interesting version:
" 'Goodbye': Former Saturday Night Live writer leaves online apology before committing suicide
A former writer for 'Saturday Night Live' and co-writer of the first draft of 'Wayne's World,' apparently succumbed his battle with alcoholism and killed himself, cops say.
Three days before his body was discovered at a Los Angeles hotel, Joe Bodolai laid out his life story, his regrets and his successes in a lengthy post on his blog titled 'If this were your last day alive what would you do?'
In the post, he describes an inability to cope with the doom-and-gloom vision of the future he saw for the coming year, including war with Iran and fascism and martial law in America.
The 63-year-old wrote for 'Saturday Night Live' from 1981 to 1982. He also co-wrote the initial version of the 1992 movie 'Wayne's World' with Mike Meyers -- which expanded on a 'Saturday Night Live' sketch.
The funnyman had a successful career as a producer for Canadian comedy television. He produced 20 episodes of the Canadian sketch comedy show 'Kids in the Hall' and helped launch 'Comics!,' which featured stand-up comedy routines for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Despite his funny bone, Mr Bodolai apparently also had a dark side. In his blog post he listed 'My inability to conquer my alcoholism' and 'The things I did because of it' at the top of a section titled 'Things I Regret.'
According to TMZ.com, police found Mr Bodolai dead in his room at the Re-Tan Hotel in Hollywood Monday afternoon with a bottle of anti-freeze and a bottle of Gatorade.
They believe he mixed the two into a poisonous concoction and drank it.
Cleaning staff found him dead Monday at the hotel, which has rooms for as low as $175 a week, where he had been staying for more than a week. It's unclear when he died.
On his blog, he details his life as an activist in the 1960s who campaigned for Bobby Kennedy and fled to Canada to avoid being drafted for the Vietnam War.
In addition to his dire warnings on his blog, he also posted on Twitter. His third-to-last post was simply 'Goodbye.'
He also posted links to promotional videos he produced for a Canadian comedy network he pitched to broadcasters.
Mr Bodolai ends his blog: 'May you all have the happy lives you deserve. Thank you all for being in my life. Love, Joe.'

While talking about SNL...there had been talk about Dana Carvey being replaced as well, btw Eddie Murphy as well. Don't remember Bill Murray or Chevy Chase being addressed, and while he wasn't a regular, he appeared several times, Andy Kaufman's sad end.
Makes me wonder if SNL is a "training ground" for duplicating "comedians". While it sounds like a strange question, because some of those comics were considered "comic genuis", perhaps some sort of experimentation on the brain of someone "funny". Just a strange thought that crossed my mind seeing the above post...the long list of people who were on that show, considered greats, and gone...whether it be self inflicted, or at the hand of someone else or a "disease"...

I remember BRYCE TAYLOR mentioning him in "Thank you for the memories" as being a paedohile too.
"Neil Diamond Awkward Moment With Chick Who Inspired 'Sweet Caroline'
Neil Diamond has said "Sweet Caroline" was inspired by a photo of a 4-year-old Caroline Kennedy -- hence the awkward laughter when Caroline recited the line, "touching me, touching you" back at the singer during the Kennedy Center Honors event last night.
Diamond insists there was nothing pervy about the song -- in 2007, he explained, "It was a picture of a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony ... It was such an innocent, wonderful picture, I immediately felt there was a song in there."
Still, kinda weird ... right?"

"Singer, actress Kaye Stevens dies in Florida
THE VILLAGES, Fla. (AP) — Singer and actress Kaye Stevens, who performed with the Rat Pack and was a frequent guest on Johnny Carson's "The Tonight Show," has died at a central Florida hospital. She was 79.
Close friend Gerry Schweitzer confirmed that Stevens died Wednesday at the Villages Hospital north of Orlando following a battle with breast cancer and blood clots.
Stevens, a longtime South Florida resident, performed with Rat Pack members including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop. She also sang solo at venues like Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and the Plaza Hotel's Persian Room in New York City.
During the Vietnam War era, Stevens performed for American soldiers in the war zone with Bob Hope's USO tour.
According to a handout from friend Rhonda Glenn, Stevens was born Catherine Louise Stephens in Pittsburgh. Her family eventually moved to Cleveland, where a teenage Stevens got her start as a drummer and singer. She later married now deceased bandleader and trumpet player Tommy Amato, and the couple performed throughout the eastern U.S.
During a gig in New Jersey, Stevens was discovered by Ed McMahon, Carson's longtime sidekick, which led to new bookings. Her big break came when she was playing a lounge at The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Debbie Reynolds became ill and was unable to perform in the main room. Stevens filled in and was an instant hit.
Besides singing, Stevens also acted in film and television. She appeared in six movies, earning a Golden Globe nomination in 1964 for "The New Interns." She was a regular celebrity player on game shows and appeared as a regular on "Days of Our Lives" from 1974-79.
During the past two decades, Stevens started her own ministry and began performing only Christian and patriotic music. She staged benefits to help build St. Vincent Catholic Church in her longtime home of Margate, Fla., where city officials named a park in her honor."
Wiki says too:
"Stevens went on a USO tour with Bob Hope in 1965. She traveled to Vietnam with Hope and a group of fellow entertainers in the hopes of boosting the morale of thousands of American soldiers. She was quoted as saying “I came back in 1965 and my life was in shambles because of what I saw.”
Used and abused by the sick and infamous B/FOB H/FOPE and his clique...

Canne, there is another thread for that, I dont see what THE USE AND ABUSE OF CELEBS has to do with Katie Holmes' replacement. Lets use our brain a little, shall we? No offense. U can move the post to MY LIST thread. Yes, I myself noticed this FATIE's weird nose... Sorry Artemis, but I don't bow down on command. Please stop with the arrogance, petty mindedness, and all round bad attitude. It's something I and others cannot help noticing. You are frequently on this board acting as though your "Word is law". It's NOT ok? . You're not in charge of anyone else's actions or opinions, and we do not need a mother telling us what to do. A little polite nudging such as : "This is in the wrong section Canne, any chance you could move it here? thanks" Instead of the all round insulting and quite honestly: Passive aggressive "Lets use our brain a little, shall we? No offense" retort. Be polite, it's not difficult , manners are free. If there's one thing you should know about me, I do not take crap from manipulative, domineering, controlling people. It's probably not worth your while to try that on me again, because I WILL call you out on it.

U can make a salad, as far as Im concerned, I dont give a sh*t. Really u posted the wrong thing in a wrong place and ure talking to me about politeness? Please... Don't project your bad habits onto me, I am the one being polite here. All I ask is that you treat people with a little more respect. Treat others as you would have them treat you. This is a great board, and I am sure having a "Friendly" atmosphere is more inviting. Posting something in the wrong place has nothing to do with politeness, it is called an "Error" Politeness : "Politeness is best expressed as the practical application of good manners or etiquette. It is a culturally-defined phenomenon" Accusing me of disrupting the thread is again projecting onto me an act I did not set out to do. It wasn't intentional. Not everyone has been here as long as you have, so a little "Leeway" is just good manners. Do not mistakenly believe you can bully me Artemis, I am a human being who deserves just as much respect as you do. I won't stand for it. So if you do not like extending me the same courtesy of "Politeness" then do not speak to me at all. It's a little hypocritical to blame me for my non existent lack of politeness, yet you turn around and belittle me. Accusing me of the very thing you're guilty of.

I remember reading about Bryce talking about her times with the Kennedy men being abused. It reminds me of Cathy O Brien's story, but with different crooked politicians. That is really disturbing about Neil Diamond and Caroline...oh, how many men write songs about little girls in their "riding gear"? That is a piece of crap of a "story" if I ever heard one. Just read the lyrics, it doesn't sound like someone writing about a kid and her pony.... Bull crap!
