Comedy legend Eddie Murphy recently told Extra that his upcoming movie, Meet Dave, is one of his last.

"Fifty years (old) I'll have been making movies thirty years and I have close to fifty movies and it is like why am I in the movies,’ Murphy commented. “I've done that part now.”

But here’s the real news. He also said that he will be returning to standup comedy!

Yeeeeaaaa!


“I'll go back to the stage and do standup," he added, when discussing his future plans after stepping away from movie making.

Now, you yungins may or may not recall that before his film career Murphy was one of the best standup comedians EVER! Go rent Delirious, Raw or Comedian and get a taste of exactly why he is a comedy legend (and it ain’t because of Pluto Nash!)

Great, he finally gets around to doing Beverly Hills Cop 4, which is the first Murphy film I'd be willing to see since...I can't even remember...and he decides that's enough of that? Geez.

Maybe he should just stop doing all this family friendly crap that isn't remotely funny and go back to his excessive cussing and brutal satire. After all, that's what works for him. I imagine he'd be a lot happier too.

The only funny movie he has is CB4 and the small part in I'm Gonna get you Sucka ....that's it...Eddie Murphy on the other hand has Beverly Hills Cop,Trading Places,Raw,Delirious,Coming to America,Nutty Proffesor...hell even his PG rated stuff us funnier than Chris Rock...you seriously need to broaden your horizons....

I feel kind of bad for him, I guess he realized that when he almost won the academy award that that was the highest he's ever going to reach. He's a great stand-up comedian, so I look forward to that, but I wish, if he still does some films, he sticks to some smart roles. No more Norbit or... is it Meet Dave? No more of those slapstick humor flicks.

Yes thank you Eddie, we was just getting ready 2 become an angry mob and tear down every theater showing "Meet Dave". My fav part of Raw was when he was talking about the kid who was crying and that string of spit that hangs from his lip but never hits the ground. Hahaha he said it even swings when the wind blows hahaha. That's my man...

During his early days, he idolized Richard Prior and made fun of Bill Cosby and was HILARIOUS. Lately, his movies have more of a Bill Cosby family feel to them, and he has lost his edge. Let's hope he reverts back.

A Florida con man named Thomas Jefferson Johnson uses the passing of the long time Congressman from his district, Jeff Johnson (who died of a seizure while having sex with his secretary), to get elected to Congress, where the money flows from lobbyists. Shortening his middle name and calling himself "Jeff" Johnson, he receives the endorsement of a political party comprised mostly of senior citizens called the "Silver Foxes."

Once on the election ballot, he uses the dead Congressman's old campaign material and runs a low budget campaign that appeals to name recognition, figuring most people do not pay much attention and simply vote for the "name you know." He wins a slim victory and is off to Washington, a place where the "streets are lined with gold."

Initially, the lucrative donations and campaign contributions roll in, but as he learns the nature of the con game in Washington D.C., he starts to see how the greed and corruption makes it difficult to address issues such as campaign finance reform, environmental protection and the possibility that electric power companies may have a product that is giving kids in a small town cancer.

In trying to address these issues, Congressman Johnson finds himself double-crossed by Power and Industry chairman thingy Dodge. Johnson decides to fight back the only way he knows how, with a con.

It was released in December of 1992 and went on to gross over $40 million at the box office. The movie was panned by film critics for being a tepid Eddie Murphy political farce. It came at a time when Murphy was experiencing a slump at the box office and this movie is considered one of his failures, though the film did win a couple of awards: the Environmental Media Awards granted the movie with the award for feature film of 1993, and in 2001 the Political Film Society awarded the film its special award of the year.

Spike Lee, who directed a commerCIAl for the US Army, was born into a family of media imposter fraud, his father having played with Fob Fylan as backup musician on Fylan albums, such as the 1965 Blonde on Blonde. This is all the more grotesque because Spike Lee had been posturing as more"left" and "racially conscious" than Eddie Murphy. But they were both just puppets in this horrific corporate media minstrel show, like all Black celebrities and all US celebrities in general.

The head of the Def Jam hip-hop record label, Shakir Stewart, has died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

Mr Stewart, who succeeded rapper Jay Z as the label's boss, signed artists such as Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.

Police said the 34-year-old was found in the bathroom of his Atlanta home and was pronounced dead at hospital.

In a statement, his family and fiancee Michelle Rivers said: "As much as we tried to help him, Shakir was in deep pain and largely suffering in silence."
