The original Lucy Lawless, who appeared in the first season of "Xena: Warrior Princess" was considerably younger and taller than the person who appeared under that name in the following seasons. The switch was made early in the second season, when she, allegedly, had a horseback riding accident, and was said to be in hospital for a couple of months. The second "Lucy Lawless" has a lankier body, eyes that are more deepset, and a more angular face. In the final episode (during the fifth season), there were closeups when she didn't bother to use botox, although in other footage in that episode, she did.

The real Lucy Lawless had an accident that shattered her pelvic bone in several places in October of 1996. It was while filming a segment for the Jay Leno show. The horse was standing on concrete, outside the studio. Lucy was supposed to leap onto the horse, only it moved!!! That's when she fell. The person appearing on the Jay Leno show in 1997, was her first replacement. The one dressed in the gold and red outfit was her last replacement.

I have looked for photos of the real Lucy Lawless, taken in 1995, but, found that many have been replaced with pictures of the first lookalike, just as Faul's photos have replaced many of James Paul's. I did find one that is a composite of the original and the first double.

It's terrible when so much time passes by and you try to remember the vintage period of these stars in their prime. And finding pics online is very difficult when they use the doubles or do photo tampering to cover up there are differences.

At the time of the real Lucy Lawless's accident, there was a photo of her on an ambulance gurney that was in most newspapers, worldwide. Now, I cannot find it online, anywhere! It was like a picture from Gulliver's Travels , where he looked like a giant surrounded by tiny people. I believe that photo is unavailable because it shows the drastic difference between her, and the replacements.

The real LUCY once again here. U cant believe how hard I found that... Its really her since the accident took place in October 1996 and she was a guest on ROSIE's show in August (the same year). www.xenafan.com/rosie/And I suppose pics of the genuine actress could also be found here: www.xenafan.com/
