i was watching life with judy garland, me and my shadows and something occurred to me, it might be rubbish so dont ridicule me because its just a thought but two women play judy the first was 23 when she played the child judy and then judy davis plays the adult life of judy. im just wondering if the film makrs were hinting that there was to judys. Tammy Blanchard played jusy as a chid but she was 23. the last time we see tammys judy she is making hand prints in concrete then it switches to judy davis', judy garland. just seems very abrupt.

For most people, their idea of Judy Garland is the young Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. Not everybody followed her days from "Baby Gumm"...as most of that generation is passed away. Only when watching Turner Classic Movies, or biographies do we see the range of the image we know as Judy.
Some people may be familiar with Judy near the end of her days. So it does make one wonder when Judy went from "Dorothy" to the Dramatic/Musical Adult...And it is peculiar that there was a time when she just seemed like "Judy" and then the glammed up Judy.
So I'm thinking it was possibly the late 40's early 50's at the latest when the switch may have taken place.

Mind boggling again. For how long was the real JUDY around, I wonder?

The story is told of her many marriages, but I have to question as to how many were actually husbands or "handlers"?
I remember a biography that was on tv some years ago, and I don't remember if it was the series that originated on A & E or on E!...but she was a little on the chubby side as a teen, and they gave her pills to lose weight...even very young. Have her on pills to get awake, to go to sleep, and wash it down with alcohol...seems like a formula that was given to many young actresses of that age...and I'm sure it still takes place. But I have to think that she may have been used as a slave and they transformed her image as she aged.
The tried to do this with Shirley Temple, but her career did not translate into adulthood, though she did make films as a young adult.
However for Judy, some of the pics that show her with alot of makeup, seems out of sorts for her image. Maybe it's just me, but it may have been at this time that "Norma Jean" became Marilyn, late 40's early 50's. She wasn't really a blonde until the 50's.
Just a strange idea that someone else had started and I am going with it. Because the images of Norma Jean to Marilyn took place about the same time.....I'm just wondering.....
