LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted "King of Pop" who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world's most influential singer and dancer before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.
The person said Jackson died in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.
The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper.
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies. He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves, his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove and tight, military-style jacket were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.
As years went by, he became an increasingly freakish figure. His skin became lighter and his nose narrower. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.
In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him. The case took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson's rented home, was roped off with police tape.
In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.
"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend sent to his telephone. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."

Reports: Pop star Michael Jackson dies at 50
Updated Thu. Jun. 25 2009 6:58 PM ET
CTV.ca News Staff
Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop," has died after suffering cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home, according to multiple reports. The singer had been preparing for a major comeback after years of seclusion.
A fire department official said Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his rented Bel Air mansion at 12:26 p.m.
Jackson, 50, was treated at UCLA Medical Center. But hospital officials were reportedly unable to revive him, according to ABC News, the Los Angeles Times and TMZ.
His death came as Jackson prepared for a major comeback next month, after years of seclusion. He was scheduled to perform 50 shows in London's O2 Arena, with the financial backing of two billionaires.
In recent years, Jackson had been the subject of endless tabloid headlines and financial difficulties. If his London shows had proved successful, he was expected to embark on a major world-wide tour.
Jackson first gained fame as musical prodigy with the pop group the Jackson 5. He was just a child, but under the watchful eye of his father, Joe Jackson, the group managed a string of hit singles with Motown Records.
The singer then broke out on his own in 1971, and began to craft his reputation as the "King of Pop." His solo efforts have become some of the best-selling albums of all time, including "Off the Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad."
The latter two albums coincided with the rise of MTV, and Jackson became known for a series of ground-breaking music videos -- including the horror-themed "Thriller."
Along with his talents as a singer and songwriter, he was also a spectacular dancer. He showed off his signature move, "The Moonwalk," during a 1983 television appearance celebrating the 25th anniversary of Motown.
But as his fame rose, so did his eccentricity. He became known for his child-like demeanor and his treasure trove of toys and amusement park rides at his Neverland Ranch -- named after the fantastical island of Peter Pan.
By the late-1980s he had become fodder for the tabloids. In 1986, it was erroneously reported that he slept in a hyperbaric chamber. Other reports focused on his paling skin, which Jackson blamed on the disease Vitiligo, and his numerous plastic surgeries that completely changed his facial appearance.
And then in 1993, in the most severe blow to his career, Jackson was accused of child molestation. He eventually settled the allegations out of court.
Developing story...

A record-shattering vinyl album and its moonwalking maestro. A paper poster of a golden-haired beauty in a one-piece swimsuit that was gossamer and clingy in all the right places.
It all seems so quaint now, the fragmented dream memories of a fleeting micro-era that began with words like "bicentennial" and "pet rock" and ended with MTV, Atari and absurdly thin cans of super-hold mousse.
The man-child named Michael Jackson and the luminous girl known as Farrah Fawcett-Majors jumped into our consciousness at a plastic moment in American culture — a time when the celebrity juggernaut we know today was still in diapers. When they departed Thursday, just a few hours and a few miles apart, they left an entire generation — a very strange generation indeed — without two of its defining figures.
"These people were on our lunchboxes," said Gary Giovannetti, 38, a manager at HBO who grew up on Long Island awash in Farrah and MJ iconography. "This," he said, "is the moment when Generation X realizes they're grown up."
It was a long time coming. Cynical, disaffected, rife with ADD, lost between Boomers and millennials and sandwiched between Vietnam and the war on terror, Gen X has always been an oddity. It was the product of a transitional age when we were still putting people on celebrity pedestals but only starting to make an industry out of dragging them down.
Its memorable moments were diffuse and confusing — the Ronald Reagan assassination attempt, the dawn of AIDS, the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger. It had no protest movement, no opponent to unite it, none of the things that typically shape the ill-defined beast we call an American generation.
These were the people who sent to the top of the charts a song called "We Don't Need Another Hero," then figured out how to churn them out wholesale, launching the celebrity obsession that is now an accepted part of American cultural fabric.
And that was personified nowhere better than in the two people who died Thursday.
She was, perhaps, the last in a line that began with Betty Grable in World War II — the bathing beauty who seemed kissed by the sun and exuded a potent combination of innocence and sexuality. But her "Charlie's Angels" jiggle-show image presaged another world entirely. It was the one that would come to be dominated first by Brooke and her Calvins and ultimately, as the hunger grew tawdrier, by American Apparel ads and the celebrity sex videos of Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton.
She struggled for credibility after the poster and the Angels. She got it in 1984 with a dramatic turn as an abused wife in "The Burning Bed." But her last stand — a documentary about the cancer that killed her — was tainted by her run-ins with insatiable paparazzi and tabloids.
He was another thing entirely — perhaps the most recognizable face in the world, even more so than the pope or Barack Obama. His musical genius and energy seemed boundless for a time. They were rivaled only by his quirks, which consumed him.
He had a bumpy, extraordinarily public childhood. Then he spent an off-the-wall lifetime trying to get it back, erecting a ranch named after the fantasy land of Peter Pan and inviting children to share his life and his bed — with results that some said drifted into the criminal.
He caught fire in a Pepsi commercial. He shrouded his children in full-body coverings and dangled one over a balcony to show his fans below. His fabled multiple plastic surgeries turned him into someone almost unrecognizable. Nose sunk into face, cheekbones became caricature, ebony drifted into ivory.
Yet through it all, even when the years of his quirks outstripped the years of his glory, he remained one of the planet's most popular figures, selling out shows wherever he went. "Icon," the Rev. Al Sharpton said, was "only a fraction of what he was." But icon was, of course, what he always acted as if he wanted to be.
Today, celebrities aren't merely created for our consumption. Audiences are passive no longer. We demand a part in creating our icons: Jon and Kate Gosselin and their ilk might as well be publicly held companies, and we all insist upon buying a few shares. Farrah and Michael Jackson were other — above us, maybe, or apart from us. Now, when we crown new icons, we want them to BE us.
"We want everything right now, and there's a blurring of reality. When does the celebrity world stop and our world begin?" said Penni Pier, an associate professor of communications at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
When Farrah gazed at us in her swimsuit and, a single moment in history later, MJ dared us to moonwalk, they commanded giant audiences. The world had not yet become fragmented into the microcommunities that exist today. We liked them or we hated them, but we shared the experience just as Walter Cronkite told us each night that "that's the way it is."
Today, when Lindsay Lohan Twitters pictures of herself to her legions of followers, the notion that a paper poster bought in a shopping-mall Spencer Gifts could change the celebrity game seems rustic. And the vinyl version of "Thriller," redolent of raw materials and production lines, is a ghost in the virtual world of iTunes — a world that the generation after X negotiates with the fluidity of natives.
In the 1990s, members of Generation X would often laugh in bars about how the time of the Boomers was passing — about how the quaintness and naivete that made up the 1960s was, finally, a grave being danced on by Kurt Cobain. Today, members of that same generation sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings of pop.
A sexy poster upon a boy's wall in which a young woman grins wholesomely. A record album called "Thriller" and its attendant music videos, built upon the notion that sexiness came in the frisson of hints and suggestions rather than in cutting directly to the big reveal.
In the end, finally, they stand as the relics of a generation — one that struggled to find its place and now, suddenly, while still young, one that must wonder if it is as passe as the paper and vinyl that its icons' most memorable moments were etched upon.
We don't need another hero? After this week, are we sure?

Come on... I dont buy it, as u know and I said my point on Michael here on this forum. R.I.P, whomever that was, but the original that wasnt in any way. R.I.P. unless FICHAEL's death was staged...

"Michael Jackson may be another example of a celebrity distraction which, upon examination, reveals more about our society's mortal condition than a tabloid could imagine. Almost certainly more than it would dare to describe.
Yesterday, Jackson was ordered to close Neverland for having failed to pay the ranch's 47 employees their salary or insurance since the end of 2005. Unfortunate for the unpaid staff and the abandoned llamas but no surprise. He's moved on since his aquittal, like Gary Glitter did after his 1999 conviction, having departed last June for a Bahrain "vacation" from which he's yet to emerge. ("For the people working at Bahrain's malls, the person covered head to toe in a black veil, gloves and glasses appeared to be a rich, doting Saudi mother.... But why would a woman wear a man's shoes? Why the bodyguards? And why did the person's fluid movements seem so familiar?")
Last week's real Jackson story ran in the New York Daily News, under the snappy banner "Creepy dad was root of all clan's woe, singer sez." The singer was brother Jermaine, and the claims based on the projected outline for his abandoned "tell-all" family story.
Reading that Joseph was a nightmare of a father and sexually abusive towards his daughters is not exactly a "stop the presses" moment. What's new is this:
Jermaine even suggested his father may have set up Michael to be somehow victimized by older men.
He tells how his father would have Michael join in at late-night hotel room meetings with "important business people," and wondered whether "something happened" to Michael at those sessions.
He said he sensed something was wrong because Michael would be sick for days after. "What was Joseph doing?" Jermaine wrote.
This lifts the Jackson family horror show to a whole new order of dysfunction, one that sees parents network with power and trade their children for privilege. This should be a motif familiar to anyone acquainted with the literature of mind control and ritual abuse survivors: the father and first controller, passing his child-victim up the social ladder of abuse in return for status, protection and reward. All that's missing is the element of occult terror. Or maybe not: "LaToya also described being awakened in the night by Joseph wearing a 'monster mask.'"
Perhaps we can take more from this than the suspicion that the Jackson clan had gotten with the program. Perhaps rather the point is that the program exploits pre-existing conditions for abuse which are more common than most suspect. (This is how I tend to think of Ponchatoula's Hosanna Church.) Yet we shouldn't discount the suspicion, either, particularly given some of Michael's paranormal interests and peculiar associations. His close friendship with SPECTRA contactee and channeller of the Nine, Uri Geller, for one instance. (Jackson was Geller's best man in 2001 when he and his wife renewed his vows, the same year Geller is said to have been reactivated as a psychic spy.) His entourage including a "personal magician" for another.
Even if you wanted to, you won't be reading Jermaine's account now. Like every Jackson sibling who's tried to break from Joe, he's climbed down, returned to the fold and scrapped the book, apparently on the strength of Michael's threats to sue. Previously, Michael's given cause for family observers to attribute his grotesque body dysmorphia to a dread of resembling his father. Yet there they were at Jackson's trial last year, hand in hand.
In the big picture Michael Jackson means not very much. But his little picture may be more newsworthy than the news suggests."

Hi guys, I don't want to speculate on this tragic day. I just want to post this tribute to Michael that I also posted on Icke and PID today: You all know that I've defended Michael many times here. I will always believe that he was a victim of mind control, one of the most obvious ones. Add to that all the media-bullying and terrible accusations... It was awful to see him go through hell here. The way he was treated shows that humans have learned nothing. There has been many reports that Michael was sick, yet he was doing a comeback and now this happens... It's very strange but I have to read more about it (even if the media hardly tells us the truth anyway). Michael, I believe that you were a true genuine, beautiful and innocent soul. You were haunted and they tried to break you many times but you always fought back the best you could. You could identify with the different and the lonely. You cared deeply for children and animals. Thanks for all you've done. You are loved and missed but will live on forever with your amazing performances and your music. I hope that you are at a much better place now where you can be left alone and find peace. Michael Jackson 1958-2009. R.I.P. From Stewart Swerdlow's website today:
Death Of 3 Icons
The past few days have seen the deaths of Ed McMahon, Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, 3 major programming icons for 3 different age groups. A programming era has ended and another is about to begin.
McMahon served his purpose on late night TV for years as Carson's side-kick and pseudo-handler. He did a good job and was allowed to live a relatively long life.
Next, the simultaneous deaths of the "angel" and the "devil" on the same day. Farah was a Monarch icon supreme. However, the new icons must be more androgynous and it must be implemented before the New World Religion takes full force.
Michael was the perfect androgynous robot. However, his purpose was fulfilled since he had become overloaded and could no longer function as the icon he had been. His death was caused by a large injection of Demerol, which slowly stopped his breathing and his heart. He was in effect, murdered by his own staff. This had to occur in his jubilee year--an important Illuminati numerical value.
There you have it. What is to come now? We are about to find out!

Yes, it's tragic about Michael, but I think he was replaced a long time ago. It's interesting that we didn't already have a thread on him. Starting an MJ thread was discussed here, fairly recently in fact, as was the possibility of MJ having been imposter-replaced. But no one got around to starting a thread. Look back through old threads and you'll find some Michael Jackson posts.

I wonder if the deaths of 3 celebs at the same time *might* be an attempt to distract from some note-worthy news item?
Oh, & notice how it was announced on a Friday afternoon.
BTW, executive orders are *not* constitutional. The executive branch does *not* have the power to legislate. Try telling that to SCOTUS, tho.
