The “Human Rights Industry” and Nicaragua Why do United Nations human rights bodies focus on some countries, but not others? Why do organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International appear to ignore important evidence presented to them? And why do the media repeat stories of human rights abuses without questioning their veracity? covertactionmagazine.com/2024/02/06/the-human-rights-industry-and-nicaragua/

"We are fortunate that JFK had a cool head during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Almost all of his advisors favored some sort of military action but unknown at the time, US intelligence had grossly underestimated by a factor of 7 the number of Soviet troops in Cuba and was not aware of the presence of tactical nukes in Cuba. Whether it was his innate sensibilities or the drugs he was taking, he did not lose his composure.
The Jupiter missiles placed in Italy and Turkey were a response to the Soviet launch of Sputnik several years earlier (though they were not deployed until very early in JFK’s administration. By 1962 they were obsolete as it would take them hours to be prepared for launch. They were only useful as a first strike weapon which is why the Soviets (rightly) saw them as provocative. They were the primary motivation for the Soviets to place IRBMs in Cuba.So JFK himself bore some responsibility for the crisis.
As noted above, the missiles in Turkey were militarily useless. The best resolution to the crisis in my view would have been to quietly offer to remove the missiles in both Turkey and Cuba. JFK knew they were more of a political problem for the upcoming 1962 congressional elections well as his 1964 reelection.
Adlai Stephenson first suggested the missile trade early in the crisis which JFK rejected. Although the missiles were ultimately traded, JFK never credited Stephenson and even denigrated him as “weak”.
RFK was a duplicitous snake in the grass. He was pretty hawkish during the crisis but after it was resolved, he tried to paint himself in his book “13 Days”(originally intended to come out during the 1964 reelection campaign) as the opposite.
Regarding “Operation Northwoods”: The secret tapes JFK had made of the deliberations during the crisis revealed that RFK had proposed a false flag “Sinking of the Maine” incident to justify an invasion of Cuba. This is what had been proposed several months earlier in “Operation Northwoods”. My suspicion is that “Northwoods” was a proposal in response to the Kennedy’s obsession to get rid of Castro by the 1964 election. RFK had chaired “Operation Mongoose” which had targeted Castro for assassination. RFK was relentlessly pressing the CIA and military to get rid of Castro. I think Northwoods was an attempt to give the Kennedy’s what they wanted.
My suspicion is that JFK was assassinated by Castro in retaliation the assassination plots against Castro. Castro was also extremely angry at the Soviets for convincing him to take the missiles and then pulling the rug out from under him by making a deal with JFK. Castro decided to take matters into his own hands. Castro’s agents had infiltrated much of the Cuban exile organizations so it would have been easy to turn an assassination plot against him to be directed at JFK. The assassination was covered up and blamed on a “lone nut” to protect the CIA and the Kennedys. This would also explain why RFK was unhelpful to anyone investigating the JFK assassination and apparently made efforts to sabotage the Garrison case.
I also suspect that Israel was involved in the JFK assassination. At the time, Israel had very good relations with Cuba. The Cuban ambassador to Israel was a jew, Richard Wolf, who would later die and be buried in Israel. Israel was in a perfect position to get inside information from CIA COUNTERintelligence chief James Angleton and provide it to Cuba. Further, the Dal-Tex building in Dallas, where some of the shots are believed to have been fired from, housed many jewish-owned textile businesses which could easily asked by Israeli intelligence to make locations in tge building available with no questions asked.
RFK, Jr. blames the CIA for the murder of his uncle and his father. Yet he has named his daughter in law as a senior campaign official even though she was a former(?) CIA employee."
